What is the least formal clothing for a father-of-the-bride to wear when groomsmen are wearing tuxes?

Wedding is in Deadwood, SD, a 'destination' wedding place. Casinos and really relaxed. However the bride is wearing a formal gown and the groomsmen are wearing tuxedos. Mother of the bride is not formal; wearing a tea length dress; not a 'mother-of-the-bride' dress.

Wedding is at a Hotel and reception is at a restaraunt.

No sorry. It has to be a tux. You are a member of the wedding party if you are walking her down the aisle. If not, you can dress as a guest.

They are in tuxes, she is formal gown--this is a formal event. Regardless of located in Deadwood SD (a place I have actually been believe it or not. is she doing the western theme?) or NYC.

If the bride is ok with it, you might could get away with a black suit. A nice formal looking, black suit. But a sports coat and slacks?? No way! The pictures are going to have you next to the bride. You up front at the alter giving her away, right next to the bridal party. A sports coat would only be ok if it was a casual wedding--bride in a destination wedding gown and groomsmen in linens and looking cuban.

A classic black suit. That's the least formal, he would look out of place next to the tuxes in pictures, if he wore anything else.

Fathers should wear suits.

Maybe some black slacks and white button up shirt with a tie or just a really nice polo shirt ask your daughter she probably doesn't mind what you wear

I would say dress pants and a sports coat would be ok.

where a tux

The father-of-the-bride in this case should wear a suit and tie. He should dress to match his wife, not the bridal party.

A suit with tie.

Dress to match the mother of the bride. sport coat and slacks with a tie.

I agree with Phantom. If the bride is in a wedding gown and her father is walking her down the aisle he must be in a tux.

The Bride's Father SHOULD wear the same attire as the Groom and the Groomsmen. The second choice is "a dark suit" . . black or dark brown or navy blue. The Bride's Father really should wear a TUXEDO. Your photographs will be nicer when they are all dressed the same!

i don't quite understand your ?... the least formal is his at home attire, t shirt, socks, shorts.

for the wedding the ideal wear is a tux

at the very least he should wear a suit and tie

Slacks and a sport coat id say should ok. Like you dress for church and if you dont then go steak out a church and see what they wear.
