Do you consider a woman that elopes with no family or ceremony a Bride?

Is a Bride just a woman getting married, or is it the woman at the center of a wedding ceremony.

Yes she is still a bride

A Bride is any woman that "elopes". It could be the tiniest cermony possible, a pastor, 2-3 witness, and the bride and groom, or it could be the most extravagant wedding of the year. Bride, Groom, 7-10 Bridesmaids and 2 Maids of Honor, 7-10 Groomsmen and 2 Best Men and a whole sanctuary filled with witnesses. Just because a woman doesnt want her family and friends at her wedding and decides it to be a really really small ceremony, doesnt mean she cannot have the title of a Bride.

She is a bride from the time she wakes up on her wedding day to the end of the day when she and her groom retire to the bridal chamber for the wedding night...she does NOT technically become a wife until the marriage is consummated tho....the wedding is not considered 'finalized' until the couple Consummate it-which is why an annulment (declared as never having taken place) is simpler if the couple never have sex after their wedding vows....Consummation is the final puzzle piece needed to complete the married pix...now a days the marriage must also be registered with the county it occurred in...if that is not done within a certain period of time the wedding ceremony is considered 'void' and the marriage is NOT legally recognized.

So she's a bride until the last term of the marriage contract (consummation) is met, and it is not a legally recognized marriage until registered.....and it matters not what kind of ceremony it is...some recognise her as a bride in the early days of the new marriage, which is sweetly sentimental...and many men refer to their wives as their bride until the day they both pass away....good luck

Even if a couple only gets married by a justice of the peace, there's still a ceremony. It's not a long, elaborate ceremony like you'd have at a place of worship but it's still a ceremony nonetheless.

A bride is any woman getting married, whether she's wearing a $10,000 Vera Wang gown or a pair of jeans.

To answer your question directly, yes she's still a bride. To get to the underlying reason for your question (I'm guessing) she's making an excuse to have a big wedding and she's just not going to go for eloping. Believe me, I tried.

One nice thing about a big wedding though. The bride's maids. Enough alcohol and a roomy coat closet can get you a little extra practice in before the honeymoon.

bride: a woman just married or about to be married

I would think yes, a bride is a woman who is to be wed whether or not there is a ceremony with family & friends present.

The bride is the woman getting married - whether in a big wedding or at City Hall. And, she is considered a bride until your first anniversary!
