It's a tradition, that says if an unmarried women catches the bouquet, she'll be the next one to marry.
Now-a-days a lot of people are abandoning the tradition, because they think it puts a negative spotlight and pressure on to their unmarried friends and family. But, I still think it's a cute tradition. If anything, catching the bouquet should show that you have good luck and something good (not necessarily marriage) is coming your way.
The woman who catches the bouquet is said to be the next who will get married.
The dress was considered good luck for other women, a type of fertility charm. After the wedding, single women chased the bride and ripped pieces off her dress, leaving her in tatters. To prevent guests from ripping the wedding dress, brides began throwing other objects as a distraction, one of which was the garter. Later, the bouquet became the most traditionally thrown object. The wedding bouquet is particularly suited to this use, as flowers symbolize fertility, and as perishable items, they are not something the bride would wish to keep. The bouquet is also a safer item to toss than the garter, as unruly and impatient wedding guests were sometimes known to try to take the garter from the bride while she was still wearing it.
Most of it is just another wedding tradition....As far as I know it just means "you'll get married next or soon" if you catch it. They also have the guarder for the guys. Which means the exact same thing only for guys. ;)
It's just an excuse to have a bunch of drunk single women make
total fools of themselves fighting over it....
(In reality, though, supposedly it means you're going to be the next
one to get married.)
sometimes, it bounces off the ceiling and lands on the floor. Make sure there is not a low ceiling.
i dont know where it started, but its an old wives tale that the person who catches it will be the next to marry
It means you are the next woman to get married. That's why only single women take part in the bouquet toss. x
It's superstition.. it means you're next to be married.
