No, you don't have to buy anything. Basically there are vendors from your area with booths set up to tell you/show you what they offer. You'll see all sorts of vendors including catering companies, bakers, bridal shops, tux shops, photographers, DJ's, bands, spas, wedding planners, reception halls, travel agencies, bridal registry information and so on...
I've done this recently so here is my advice:
1- Arrive early so as to not get stuck behind a line full of brides. Expos tend to get pretty busy.
2- Bring a tote bag to put all the information/goodies you get so you're not walking around dropping things all over the place.
3- Bring pre-addressed address labels with your info on them. My future mother-in-law did this for me and I cannot tell you how much easier it made things!! Include your name, address, email address and wedding date on them. (Skip the phone # unless you want tons of sales calls!). You can stick them on all raffles going on, as well as vendors you are interested in so they can contact you or send you more information. Having these address labels will save you TONS of time filling out your information again and again so you can spend your time checking out all there is to see.
Congrats and have fun!! :)
not usually at bride expos its a big party basically, now sometimes and all depending on where it is you may have to pay for a dinner for you and your soon to be but that may be the only thing, it just really depends on what the expo is like.
most times at a bridal expo youll walk around gather business cards and sometimes media kits from djs and photographers, also get invite samples from stationery companies and etc.
id consult the place where this is being held and get the specifics from them...what has to be paid for? what to expect before heading there so this way you dont look like an idiot...good luck
Sometimes it's free admission. the better ones charge a few dollars. There are trade stands all aorund with photographers, venues, florists, bakeries, jewelers, etc. all displaying their wares. You enter your name at all the booths for their various free draws, but be forewarned it means you give them your phone number to call you later. In most bridal shows there is a fashion show of gowns and groomswear and the bigger shows give a huge door prize - honeymoon trip, diamond ring, etc. If you have already booked everything, you're wasting your time and it may cause some second thoughts, but if you are still in the preliminary planning stages, you will get loads of ideas.
Ugh. I found the bridal expo experience to be just dreadful.
You pay for your admission ticket.
DON'T sign up for the drawings or giveaways. You will be bombarded with junk mail and phone calls to the end of your days.
The only thing I found helpful was to get price sheets for photographers. That way, you can get a real feel for what is an "average" price in your area.
You will most likely have to pay admittance to get in, but other than that no.
WARNING!! Do not give out your name, address, phone number and e mail address unless you are VERY interested in something. I went to a bridal show in Jan and still get spammed each and every day through my e mail..I mean like 50 e mails daily from all kinds of places. Phone calls started coming in the next day and I had to be so rude to some of them to get them to stop calling. It is usually the bigger chains or scams...not so much the local mom and pop shops. but just beware of giving your info out to anyone there! They tell you it is to win a contest or so on and then your phone is ringing off the hook and e mail box is loaded daily. Just an FYI. No one ever told me.
As a visitor you just pay for the ticket if is there a fee!
As expositor you will pay to have your stand or to be part of any runway at the event!!!
