Bride's Speeches

Traditionally brides did not speak on their wedding day. Today it is accepted that brides should have their say. After all there are things that most brides would like to say.

A wedding day is a day for happiness and a happy bride should give a happy speech. Most of them want to thank their parents for their love and care. In expressing these thoughts a bride will make the day special for them too. If she has been welcomed by the groom's parents she may like to say how much they have come to mean to her. In doing so she will make their day too.

A bride may also wish to speak about her bridesmaids. They may be sisters or friends or a combination of both. She may refer to incidents she shared with them or things they have done for her. Quite often she will be thanking them for all their help in the busy period before the wedding.

Then too there are often people at the wedding who have helped her in some way and it is nice to mention them. Maybe her aunt made the wedding dress or a cousin did the flower arrangements. Perhaps a neighbour wrote the place card in beautiful calligraphy or a friend played the organ in the church. If someone goes out of their way to help the couple it is gracious to thank them.

Naturally the most important mention of all must go to her groom. She should express what he means to her and if she finds this difficult in public she can simply say how much she loves him and how she is looking forward to spending a lifetime with him.

He will love her for it.
