Fun and Unique Wedding Cake Toppers

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Wedding couple bobbleheads? Cake toppers have come a long way since the traditional bride and groom, cherubs, doves and wedding bells. Now they are full of charm and romance and are a delightful new collectible whose popularity is on the rise. They can be made out of plastic, paper, hand-blown glass, metal or polymer clay, and are usually between 6" to 7.5" to fit on the wedding cake.

Most online websites offer Caucasian, Hispanic and African-American brides and grooms, as well as inter racial couples. They also offer various Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy, and Marine groom cake tops. Baseball, basketball, football, fishermen, golfers and hockey players (as well as pro and college teams) are well represented. And for professionals, there are cake tops for firemen, airline pilots, doctors, mail carriers, cooks, plumbers and many more.

These are some of the more comical cake tops we found while searching the Internet:

o Frankenstein Bride and Groom
o Naked Couple
o Bald Groom
o Ball and Chain
o Groom on a Short Leash
o Cow, Frog, and Dolphin Bride and Groom
o Pet Attendants

A new type of cake topper collectible is hand sculpted from polymer clay to resemble the bride and groom. You will need to send pictures (full front, full profile and full body) so they can make the personalized clay figures in your likeness. The price for this service is approximately $169 but is sure to be an attention getter as well as a cherished keepsake.

Another custom made wedding cake topper that is carefully created from your photos is the Wedding Couple Bobbleheads. Each one is specially made including 3D modeling of the face and head, including hair, eye and skin color. Currently one company offers the traditional bride and groom, a dancing couple, fireman couple, and military couple. They are 7-8 inches tall and cost $189.

The 10 Most Unique Wedding Entrance Songs of All Time

Image : http://www.flickr.com

For weddings, you just believe that the bride will be entering to the same, old, traditional, "Bridal March" or "Here Comes the Bride" song. For most couples that are planning their wedding, this is not a song they truly like, however wedding entrance songs are nearly never discussed. Many couples through the ages have done precisely the same thing. In today's weddings, the couples believe they are a unique couple and many of the younger generation want unique wedding entrance songs.

The 10 most unique wedding entrance songs are a matter of flavor, but most of them are still a bit on the conservative side, just more contemporary in fashion. For instance, "Love Train" by The O'Jays or "Celebration" by Kool and The Gang were well-known songs a couple decades ago and every generation knows them, so they would be among unique wedding songs.

They have lyrics and music that can get a crowd dancing, but it might shock grandma to see the bride coming down the aisle to this. Don't be surprised to see her clapping by the time you get to the altar, though. They can make a wedding fun, take the stress off and for the right couples, with outgoing personalities, they can make their wedding an pleasant and memorable event. Certainly, it will be unique, too.

"Heaven Must Have Sent You" by Bonnie Pointer or "I Knew I Loved You Before I Met You" by Savage Garden are a couple of amorous songs that make appropriate, yet special wedding songs, for instance. You have to think of personal taste and the guests, so most brides and grooms have older relatives to consider.

That's not to say that some don't pick something on the other extreme for unique entrance songs. Romantic songs that say how you feel about each other can make superb wedding entrance songs and some couples always refer to it as "our song". After all, it's a day of expressing your love to each other, even if the complete wedding guests doesn't necessarily see it the same way.

"St. Elmo's Fire" by John Parr or "2001 Space Odyssey Theme" by Richard Strauss are unique wedding entrance songs that are mainly effective for night-time, outdoor theme weddings, official contemporary weddings and you can use special effects, such as tiki torches or a disco ball to complete the theme. Picking great wedding songs are simpler, if you have a special theme to your wedding.

"It Had to Be You" by Harry Connick, Jr. or "The Best Is Yet to Come" by Frank Sinatra will be crowd pleasing, unique wedding entrance songs for all ages. The elderly relatives will in particular love them and for reflective weddings, they express romance, love and individuality.

Of course, for the most unique wedding entrance songs, "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osborne or "Tribal Dance" by 2 Unlimited fit the bill for some couples. These are not for everybody, but some of the younger hip-hop crowd, or the heavy metal rockers might enjoy wedding entrance songs like these, so don't be shocked if you know somebody that mentions them.

When it comes to wedding entrance songs, these ten most unique wedding songs are a example. It is pretty much dictated by the tune that most signifies the way you want your day to be remembered.

Unique Bridal Shower Gifts - Seven Ideas to Celebrate the Bride-to-Be

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There was a time when a bridal shower was held in order to help the new bride get all the things she would need to start married life. All you had to do was visit the housewares section, or choose something off the registry list, and you were finished. But, these days, many brides have already been living on their own before their wedding.

Instead of getting a bride's home ready for becoming a wife, the focus shifts to helping the bride herself. Bridal showers have become a time for women to get together and pamper the bride-to-be as well as to prepare her for married life. And that leaves a doorway for all kinds of unique gifts. Here are seven tips and ideas to make sure you give a memorable gift for your next bridal shower.

1. In this modern era, many engaged brides and grooms are paying for their own wedding and their own honeymoons. What would your bride love to have - but wouldn't buy for herself during this time in her life? Make some notes and, if necessary, get together with friends to purchase something that the bride will really enjoy. Another idea is to chip in to purchase something for the honeymoon - a romantic daylong getaway, for example, that the couple may not think they can afford on their own.

2. Some of the most popular bridal gifts are those that will help the bride-to-be remember the good times you have shared together. Create a collage or visit a photo processing website and create an album. Or simply frame your favorite photograph of yourself with the bride and include a sentimental message on the back.

3. Create a personalized gift basket for the bride. Fill the basket with her favorite pampering treats, including crèmes and lotions or her favorite fragrance, which she can wear on her wedding day. For a really memorable gift, include a gift certificate to her favorite spa so she can enjoy a little pampering a day or two before the big day - especially during the hectic days before the wedding.

4. Another very popular bridal shower gift is lingerie. Try to coordinate the lingerie with the theme of the couple's honeymoon destination.

5. Give her a wedding day survival kit. You can purchase one of these already assembled from various online retailers, or you can make your own. Include anything that she might need just before the big day: hair spray, hair clips, her favorite bath gel, mints, deodorant, double-sided tape, and so on. Place all the essentials you can think of in a train case or other nice carrying case with a sentimental note.

6. Make something. Add a personal touch (and keep the costs down) by making something just for the bride-to-be. If you are handy with a needle and thread, see if there is something the bride would like you to make: a bridal veil, for example. Or perhaps you could help with the flowers or the centerpieces. Offer to create some favors or decorations, or, if you are a scrapbooker or a photographer, take some photographs of the days and weeks leading up to the wedding and create a keepsake album.

7. Think back to your own bridal shower - or any shower in recent memory. What bridal shower gifts drew the most ooh's and aah's from the other guests? Paying attention to things like this (and noting them at the time) will make you a great gift giver, in bridal showers, birthdays, and every other occasion, as well.

The key when trying to figure out a perfect bridal shower gift is to keep your focus on the bride and your personal relationship. Anything that celebrates the bride, or your relationship with her, as well as those items that contribute to her wedding day or honeymoon, will be perfect.

Unique Wedding Gifts for Parents of the Bride and Groom

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Many engaged couples wish to show appreciation to their parents for funding their big day, yet struggle with finding ideas for such a meaningful gift. Fortunately, there are many options for unique wedding gifts for parents of the bride and groom.

Personalized Gifts

One idea is to produce a personalized wedding gift for parents. Personalized items provide a special memento of love and family history. Engraved frames with a heartfelt message and memorable photo will be cherished for years to come. Personal jewelry items such as a locket or cufflinks with the wedding date engraved are another option. Plaques with a special poem can be displayed with pride as a reminder of the merging of two families. Holiday ornaments may be engraved with couple's names. A framed representation of the family tree (with the new son/daughter included) is another option.

Classic Gifts

Another idea is to give a classic item made from precious materials. The bride and groom may wish to give the timeless gift of crystal, in the form of a clock or vase. Silver candlestick holders or a serving piece provide another option.

Creative Gifts

Couples may wish to exercise their special talents by creating their own unique wedding gift for their parents. A handcrafted scrapbook chronicling the journey from childhood to marriage will bring tears to a parent's eyes. A handmade quilt would become an instant family heirloom. Pottery, lovingly created or painted, will hold a place of honor on the mantel of the family home.

Gift Certificates

Yet another option is to give the gift of relaxation. After months of stressful (and expensive) wedding planning, most parents of the bride and groom would appreciate a gift certificate for a relaxing spa treatment or weekend getaway. Couples can get creative and research local recreational activities, bed and breakfasts and formal dining options.

Wedding Mementos

Once married, the bride and groom can provide parents with a special photo album with candid shots of the wedding preparations, ceremony and honeymoon.

Regardless of the wedding gift that a couple decides to give their parents, the heartfelt message of gratitude will be clearly and lovingly communicated.

Fun in the Sun - Unique Beach Bride Cake Toppers

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There's just something about getting married on the beach. Waves crash along the shore, children giggle in delight as they dig the sand for seashells, and barefoot couples stroll arm in arm gazing at far off horizons. Dear beach bride, if such scenarios play out in your mind's eye then choosing a unique topper for your wedding cake is a detail you don't take lightly.

Cake toppers come in all shapes and designs. If you love seashells you might opt for a scallop embellished with sea stars and crystals, or how about a coral cake topper nestled with pink and white shells and starfish, a beautiful combination. Sail boats and light houses are more intriguing ideas. Find a sail boat with colorful sails and the motto, "set sail for love". Perhaps you are getting married in an old light house or near one, decorate your cake with a barber pole light house and use the saying "shine a light on love".

For a bride who has decided on a classical figurine couple then how about a handsome barefoot groom gazing down adoringly at his beautiful bride as he stands inside a heart drawn in the sand. If you have a fisherman groom then the choice of a comical bride who has snagged her man by the seat of his pants just might play on the strings of your heart.

Beach bride if you are getting married in Hawaii or on a tropical island you might brainstorm the idea of using orchids, hibiscus, gingers, bird of paradise, anthuriums, and other exotic flowers as toppers.

Anthuriums in red and pink are so striking you might want to be careful they don't steal the show when arranged with other flowers. Speak to your planner and bakery about adding balance and playing up one or two tropical flowers as a dominate theme for your topper.

Now that you have been given some interesting ideas for topping off your cake, take into mind what kind of cake you are having, the flavor, theme and most of all you and your beloved's personality traits. Remember, have fun and make this a time you will never forget.

Unique Wedding Dresses For Bolder Bride!

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Every Bride-To-Be deserves to have a unique wedding gown. And if you are the type of bride that likes to go against the grain or maybe even wants to be a little more daring, then perhaps the old Chinese proverb "Fortune Favors The Bold" applies to you.

When most people think on the term unique wedding dresses, perhaps images of runway bridal gowns, or maybe even today's sexier more nontraditional wedding dresses come to mind. Or perhaps the word "Expensive" keeps flashing before you. But the good news is, a different wedding gown does not have to be expensive, especially if you buy direct from the wholesaler.

A unique wedding dress can be very simple or very elaborate, it's all in the eye of the beholder. But recent trends show us that brides looking for unique wedding gowns are more than likely looking for something that is maybe a little more daring than your typical ceremonial wedding dress. Now with destination and beach weddings growing in popularity, many brides are opting to show a little skin or even wanting to add color to their special day.

Colored wedding dresses have been around for a long time, in fact some cultures don't consider the white wedding dress to be a viable piece of apparel. But regardless of what country you live in, colored wedding gowns are becoming more and more popular. It may not be just a trend either, but rather a way to go very bold with an all over color, or simply by adding your favorite tone to your gown by using a coloured sash or colored bow to you wedding dress.

Unique wedding gowns with color can also mean colored embroidery, beads or embellishments. Any of these options can make the most pedestrian wedding gown come alive and really stand out in a crowd!

Another nontraditional wedding gown style is to have a transparent mid-riff section incorporated into your dress. In other words, there is lining in all the right places but the dress is actually two pieces joined together with lace so that your middle section can be seen threw the lace.

Some of these dresses have many elements of the more traditional wedding gowns, but have the added feature of transparency. Other unique wedding dresses have just enough cover and a lot more bare! You tend to see these dresses at your seaside and Las Vegas Weddings along with 2nd Weddings too.

Either way, remember that your dress will be unique! Why? because you are one of a kind and you are wearing that unique wedding dress, not the other way around.

Unique Gifts for Mother of the Groom

Image : http://www.flickr.com

A wedding is a joyous occasion, and an occasion when gifts are exchanged among many different people. Guests and bridal party members give gifts to the bride and groom. The bridal couple gives gifts to the wedding party and to the bride's mother. Some couples do not give a gift to the mother of the groom. It is entirely proper to do so, however, and will go far toward alleviating feelings that the mother of the groom is in the background.

Unique gifts for the mother of the groom may be purchased, but the most unique gift a bridal couple can give her is personal attention. Only you can show that you have time for her on your special occasion. Before you get too caught up in the day, plan a heart-felt gift that only you can give.

The French custom of the groom walking his mother down the aisle is a lovely, unique gift that she will always remember. The bride and her father walk the aisle together. Give similar attention to the mother of the groom.

Order a lovely bouquet of her favorite flowers to be delivered the morning "after" your wedding. She will appreciate your thoughtfulness. Be sure it includes a sincere thank you for her part in the wedding.

In addition to your personal touch, give her a unique gift you have purchased. We've gathered a few ideas here to help you.

Unique Gifts for Mother of the Groom - Sentimental

Since the mother of the groom will usually cry at the wedding, give her a unique gift that is sentimental, and that she can cherish forever. A dainty handkerchief in linen and lace can be embroidered with the words, "Mother of the Groom" to make it uniquely hers.

A necklace with a tiny bouquet of silver forget-me-not flowers is another unique gift. Its gentle message is that she will not be forgotten, even though her son is married and starting his own family.

Visit the CafePress store online, and create a unique gift featuring Mom's favorite photo of the couple, or simply a gift bearing your wedding date and names. Use your imagination to style a mug with the words "Mother-of-the-groom" and a photo of Mom.

Your personalized keepsake is always a unique gift. Write a poem, or choose one that expresses your feelings. Add your names, and have it etched on a scalloped block of clear Lucite with a display stand.

Unique Gifts for Mother of the Groom - Stylish

If the mother of the groom is a business woman, and regularly carries business cards, a unique gift might be a personalized business card case. Have it engraved with the initials, MOG. Few people will understand the initials, but she will think of you every time she uses it.

Purchase a decorative crystal bud vase and have it engraved for a unique gift. You might put her initial in flowing script near the top, with your names and wedding date at the bottom.

For a mother of the groom who always has a key in her hand, give her a heart locket key chain. Be sure the heart locket is large enough for an engraved message such as "Our hearts are always with you." Put your photo inside, and you have a unique gift that no one else could give.

Unique Gifts for Mother of the Groom - Amusing

If the groom's mother has a sense of humor and enjoys a good play on words, you might give her a lovely make-up set for "groom"-ing. Ornate, silver-tone make-up brushes in a black satin case would make a unique gift. A silver compact, engraved with her name, would also be fitting, either with the brushes or alone.

A medal of honor might also be appreciated as a unique gift for the mother of the groom. The Bridal People website offers an amusing medal of honor to be awarded the mother of the groom for surviving the wedding. Hanging from a ribbon, their medallion weaves together the initials M.O.G., and spells out Mother of the Groom in small letters across the top.

Tip: Unique gifts for the mother of the groom, or for anyone, are usually a result of coupling your imagination with your knowledge of the gift recipient.

Unique Wedding Centerpieces For The Budget-Minded Bride

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Traditionally, the centerpieces at wedding receptions have consisted of an elaborate floral arrangement. In recent years, however, many brides have found ways to create more unique wedding centerpieces - and at considerably less expense. If your wedding has a theme of any sort, such as Asian, it might be easy to decide upon unique, themed centerpieces. If, however, your wedding is more traditional, and has only colors that need to be carried through as a theme, here are a few creative wedding centerpiece ideas to help you do this beautifully and economically.

One option is to use large, clear glass bowls, filled with water dyed in shades of your wedding colors. In them, float lit, white, flower-shaped candles, creating a beautiful contrast. Another take on this idea would be to fill the bowls with colored glass pebbles, or even genuine polished stones, which are available in the floral section of most craft stores. Match the colors to your wedding, and place an item such as a candle, or even pieces of bamboo or silk flowers for contrast.

Slightly higher-budget options, such as clusters of color-coordinated pillar candles set on beveled mirrors are always lovely, and can add quite a bit to ambiance if used at an evening reception. Woven baskets in a range of sizes can be bought or painted to match your wedding colors, and filled with favors for your guests. Love poems printed on parchment and tied with an appropriate color of ribbon are one option.

Either of these containers (glass bowls or baskets) lend themselves to numerous variations. If you plan to utilize assigned seating, you could create personalized ornaments with each guest's name on them, and artfully heap those in the container. Sorting through these would give guests a great opportunity to get to know one another, as well as passing the time spent waiting for the happy couple to arrive. Other filler ideas include seashells, Christmas lights, Christmas ornaments, candies or even origami flowers!

You know that tulle is often used to make chair bows and wrap wedding favors, but did you know it can also be your friend when creating unique wedding centerpieces? Since tulle is available in a wide range of colors, it can be scrunched and heaped in the center of the table to form a soft, gauzy, color-matched bedding for your chosen ornaments. A handful of confetti makes an especially festive addition to this type of centerpiece. This is a great idea for oblong or oddly-shaped tables, as the tulle can be mounded into any shape imaginable.

Any of these unique wedding centerpieces will make a beautiful and elegantly set table for your guests. You can also rest assured that these centerpieces won't wilt, no matter what the temperature! Whether you use one of these ideas outright, or just use them as a springboard for your own creativity, you will surely create a memorable experience for everyone in attendance.

How to Choose a Unique Bridal Bouquet For the Bride

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you go to your wedding florist, they will usually show you a catalogue for some ideas. There are so many types of flowers and bouquet styles to select from, so how do you know what you should look out for?

Asking yourself these few questions may help though!

What's your body size?

For my wedding, I chose a posy of red and cream roses adorned with white feathers. I am considered small and petite, so a round posy bouquet suits me. Actually my first choice was hand-tied calla lilies, but because of my height, I had to give up the idea because they looked pretty odd on me! I realized a round bouquet looks more balanced for my body size and it actually complements my look instead. Remember, your first choice of bouquet may not be the best choice, it makes sense to get something which will look good on you instead. With all eyes on you at your wedding, it's a costly mistake to make if everything else is perfect except your bouquet!

However if you are tall and lanky, a cascading type of bouquet or a hand-tied one will suit you better. Do not go for the round one as it will make you look even taller. With heels that pile on the height on the actual day, it may make you look like you tower over your hubby, especially if he is of about the same height as you.

If you are slightly on the heavy side, a cascading one will help you look slimmer on your wedding day. You will be surprised that the unique shape of the bouquet being round at the top and ending with a pointy bottom does wonders for your body shape!

Is there any colour theme for your wedding?

Choose the type of flowers that will complement your colour theme, especially the colour of your wedding gown. For brides who are wearing ivory or white gowns, it is a lot easier as most flowers will match. However, if you are wearing bolder colours like purple or pink, flowers that are of the same colour group but in different shades will look pleasant to the eye. Always remember, the rule of the thumb is to match. The bouquet should not look like a sore thumb against your wedding dress and get your guests talking for the wrong reasons.

When is your wedding held?

Certain types of flowers are seasonal, so depending on the month your wedding is, you may not be able to get them even if its your favourite bloom! Some typical all year round flowers are roses, lilies, gardenias, freesias, gerbera daisies, etc. If you wish to choose flowers like hydrangeas, tulips, they may not be available at your free will, so ask your florist for advice and plan ahead in advance!
