Colorful Mother of the Bride Dresses That Will Turn Heads

Image : http://www.flickr.com

One of the most exciting things for a bride while planning her wedding is picking out the dress. And while it is important to find a dress that she and she alone is crazy about, it is also nice to have some outside input.

This is where the bridesmaids and the mother of the bride come in. It can be a joy for the bride to go out with the most important women in her life in search of that perfect dress. Aside from all the laughter and fun, their insight and opinions could turn out to be invaluable.

In fact, the work that the mother of the bride puts in during the months leading up to her daughter's wedding day is oftentimes unparalleled. So when the big wedding day comes around, it is only right that she looks her best as well. Here are a few ideas for colorful mother of the bride dresses that will let mom shine just as brightly as her daughter.

Short Iridescent Taffeta Jacket Dress

This ink-colored jacket and dress combo is a gorgeous shade of bright blue. It is perfect for a contemporary and fashion-forward mother of the bride.

The jacket has a lovely brooch detail and sensibly capped sleeves. That way, it offers a little bit of extra coverage but still looks dashing and stylish.

The dress itself has a subtle side ruching, which is designed specifically to disguise any flaws in your figure. It hangs to just above the knees, giving it a sense of allure without going too overboard. This dress and jacket set is also available in both mink and grey color options.

Hi-Low Mesh Dress with Rhinestone Brooches

For something really wild, you can't go wrong with this gorgeous dress in a deep shade of red. It is perfect for getting out on the dance floor and shaking a leg. The front of the hemline hangs to right below the knees while the back reaches down slightly farther. This effect is at its very best when the wearer is twirling around on the dance floor!

The top part of this gorgeous gown has rhinestone brooches sparkling at either shoulder strap. The bodice criss-crosses the chest and then hugs the waist before spreading out again at the hips. This dynamic dress is truly only for moms who are willing to make an impression.

Stretch Satin Cap Sleeve Dress

There is an old saying that goes "When I am an old lady, I will wear purple." But this beautiful orchid-colored gown is truly for the young at heart. It would look just as natural being worn on the red carpet at the Academy Awards as it will at the wedding ceremony of a proud mother's daughter.

The dress has cap sleeves at the top that provide a little bit of extra warmth and coverage. From there, the dress sweeps down, hugging the waist and the hips. This slim cut creates a dazzling and very flattering silhouette. It also hangs to right about the knees and looks its best when paired with a pair of tall silver high heels.

Off the Shoulder Ruched Stretch Tafetta Dress

This plumberry-colored number is another dazzling option that will have mom looking great and showing off her colorful side. The dress is a stunning revolution of flattering ruching and modern pizzazz.

At the top of the dress, the straps hang off of the shoulders and meet in the center with a sparkling brooch. Because of the intense shine of the brooch, this dress doesn't necessarily pair well with most necklaces. The open neckline might make the wearer feel obligated to put something there, but the presence of the brooch will only make the look feel complicated and cluttered. Instead, it is best to pair this dress with a big, impressive pair of hanging earrings.

As mentioned, the ruching appears all over the dress and will make mom's figure look fantastic. What's more is that the stretch taffeta fabric also feels surprisingly comfortable. Get out there and impress the crowd with this dynamic mother of the bride dress.

Flutter Sleeve Iridescent Chiffon Tiered Dress

For an inspiring springtime wedding, you just can't beat this adorable violet-colored dress. The flutter sleeves and tiered chiffon on the full-length skirt look even more impressive when they are out blowing in an evening breeze.

The dress has a v-neck bodice and a fashionable sash at the waist that really brings it all together. In fact, this dress is so stylish that it is fit to be worn again and again to any cocktail parties or other special occasions that may come up.

Moms work hard all their lives to raise a daughter. When that daughter's wedding day comes around, it is time for her to relax and enjoy all of the effort that she put in. With one of these bright and colorful dresses, she can look just as good as she feels.

Stunning Mother of the Bride Dresses - How to Look the Part of the Proud, Elegant Mother

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Mother of the bride dresses have their own style compared to the outfits of the rest of the bridal entourage. As the person responsible for bringing the bride into this world, it is only fitting that the mom be dressed just as elegantly as her daughter and the principal participants of the event.

Mother of the bride gowns should exude an air of regality and ageless grace. For those who have no qualms at baring a little skin, a strapless or sleeveless full length gown with a plunging V neck or dipped neckline can make the wearer look gorgeous without upstaging the bride or any of the younger ladies. If the doting mom would rather keep herself covered up, she can do so in style with a matching bolero jacket. Short sleeved and long sleeved gowns are also excellent conservative options.

For cuts, it would be best to stick to the sleek A line or column dress. Ballooning ball gown skirts are not exactly age appropriate and are best reserved for the bride to be. Empire line cuts make for great mother of the bride dresses for moms on the heavy end as it effectively draws attention away from the stomach area and highlights the area from the bust up, making the wearer look slimmer and more beautiful.

One can shop for mother of the bride gowns through the Internet. This can save the bride and her mother a lot of time and effort as they search for the perfect wedding outfit. They may also decide to head to the nearest store that sells the dresses they find on the Internet. Online boutiques that direct you to affiliated retail shops are the best resources for ready made mother of the bride gowns.

Mother of the Bride Dress Guide - How to Choose Your MOB Dress

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Sure - the day may be all about the bride and her big dress, but as the mother of the bride or groom - you need to shine too. Here's everything you need to know to ensure you look stylish and perfectly coiffed on the big day.

Getting Started

When it comes to selecting wedding day attire, the bride goes first. The moms need to start shopping as early as possible - but not until after the bride has selected her gown and the bridesmaids' dresses. Once this has been done, the bride will discuss her preferences of lengths, colors and styles with her mother or both mothers. If you're not happy with the style she suggests, let her know and work out a compromise. It is her day - but the moms have to be comfortable too.

Etiquette

Typically the mother-of-the-bride (MOB) selects her dress (taking cues from the bride), then politely consults with the mother-of-the-groom (MOG) as soon as possible to inform her of the style. The MOG should then select an ensemble that complements - not matches - that of the MOB. This custom is definitely not required, however. If the MOB is lagging and the MOG is anxious to get shopping, she can definitely take the initiative and consult with the MOG or the bride. Regardless - it's important for everyone to be flexible and considerate.

Style Tips for the Moms

Color

Everyone has their own preferences, and any color can really be worn if the bride and moms agree on it. That said, most would advice against these hues:

White or Ivory - (don't compete with the bride)

Black - (don't appear as if in mourning)

Red - (don't be too flashy)

You usually can't go wrong with lavender, beige, silver, burgundy, blue and rose.

Matching the Bridesmaids?

There is no rule that says that mothers' dresses should match or coordinate with the bridesmaids' attire. You can either choose to stay within the same color family - yet different shade (i.e. maids are in seafoam green, you choose a deep emerald green), or feel free to mix and match as you see fit. Again - talk to the bride about her preferences.

FormalityWhile you have more room to maneuver in color - the formality of your gown should match the formality of the rest of the wedding party and the event. If it's an evening wedding and the maids are in floor length ball gowns - it's probably best to avoid a short hemline in a casual fabric - and vice versa.

Where to Shop

Most department stores and many specialty boutiques feature appropriate gowns that can also be worn again to another formal party. You can also jump start your search for mother of the bride dresses in this interactive online photo gallery. Shop with a trusted friend or relative, one whose judgment you can trust to help you choose the style and color that is best for you.

Mother of the Bride Wedding Speeches

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The mother of the bride is the second most important woman in a wedding after the bride. She, together with the father, will be the one to give away her daughter to a new man. Therefore, the mother of the bride wedding speeches are very awaited at the reception.

The Concept

Among the many things that the mother of the bride should focus on, is the concept of the speech. What she is supposed to say should go with the main concept of the wedding, which is the unison of her daughter and her beloved son in law. This being said, the mother of the bride wedding speeches should focus on her daughter and how thankful she is for having such a wonderful girl as a daughter.

Personal experiences can also be mentioned. Funny childhood memories that can make the audience laugh. Make her the center of positive attention by saying how much you love her as her mother.

Mother of the bride wedding speeches should contain the positive traits of the daughter- how she has affected her mother's life. Thanking her for her time and the love that she has given to the family will add more emotion to the concept of the speech. It will give the mother a chance to show how much she loves her daughter and how much the family will miss her as she leaves the nest.

Additional Content and Reminders

It would also help the mother to practice the speech a few weeks before so that she can get rid of stage fright. She also has to put the groom's feelings into consideration when making a speech. Wedding speeches should be about happiness. The mother should not focus on negative aspects of the groom's personality. She should also never forget to welcome the groom to the family.

As a mother, you should say what you feel. Anything that comes from the heart is more appreciated than something that is taken from a greeting card. You can also take this chance to share your wisdom with the newlyweds. Since you have had the experience of living a married life, your advice will be important for them to consider as they start their own family. It will help them through tribulations that may come their way.

As a mother, you should try your best not to get too emotional when delivering your speech. However, it is unavoidable because of the sentimental tone of the occasion. Be sure to bring something that can wipe the tears off your face as you deliver your heartfelt speech. However, if it does get too emotional do not be afraid to shed a tear.

The mother of the bride wedding speeches should sum up all your feelings about the wedding. One very important thing that you should remember is to thank everyone for coming to your daughter's wedding. In addition to this, delivering this speech will give you a chance to show that you have accepted the groom into the family. You must make him feel welcomed so that he would not be afraid to open up to you in case there is any problem.

Curvy Moms and Mother of the Bride Dresses

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Weddings are all about brides and the grooms. Moms have to take the back-seat. But is anyone wondering how they're feeling in their awful mother of the bride dresses?

Don't Forget Mom

Although your mom won't say it, she's a little forlorn at the prospect of 'losing' you to someone you love but she'll work hard enough to help you with the wedding preparations. Shouldn't mom be rewarded with one of those stunning mother of the bride dresses?

Moms don't come in one-size-fit-all packages. They have gained inches here and there and they believe that there are no stunning dresses for women their size and age. You mom wouldn't dare look ridiculous in a tight-fitting dress and would prefer or a tent dress that can house an entire harem of concubines. This hesitance to try on something stunning is understandable; after all, she's no longer in the April of her youth.

Although moms have mommy fats here and there or have deep laughter lines on their faces, they can still carry their curves well. At her age, don't force her into something that makes her look too trying-hard to look your age. She must dress her age but look stunning too. The line of elegant mother of the bride dresses would be smart choices for your reluctant curvy mom

Moms whatever their sizes and curves can ease into stunning dresses that would give the bridesmaids a run for their money. If you are going to be a bride this year, take mom along when you shop for wedding dresses and help her choose the best dress to show off her curves but one that hides her mommy flaws.

Ask your mom if she wants something different to wear. Would she go for the classic lines with a new twist or settle with something familiar? Your mom might shudder at the thought of wearing something trendy but persuade her to try on the latest selections of mother of the bride dresses. If she does not like the dress because it's too showy or too short for her taste, or a bit tight on the arms, usher her to another rack for plus-size frames.

You bet; she'll be stunned at the sight - plus sized mother of the bride dresses cut and styled in the latest trends. Let mom dare to wear a color she has never worn but looks good her skin tone and cajole her to try a purple chiffon creation with a swirling skirt. You bet, she'll love her new look and won't feel too bad losing you to the man after your own heart.

When to Go Shopping

Since your wedding is also special day too for your mom, take the time to shop and shop months before the altar date. Moms are fussy and won't settle on something on first sight. She might go shopping on her on if you are too busy and surprise you with nice dress without your help. But if you are scared she turns up with a sorry little dress, you might as well give a month to go the rounds with her.

The first target should be the bridal shop. When you shop for your wedding dress, take mom along so she gets to see the latest styles in mother of the bride dresses and wear one with aplomb to show off her curves.

Mother of the Bride Dresses That Your Mom Can Actually Wear After the Wedding

Image : http://www.flickr.com

At a wedding, all eyes should be on the bride. After all, it's her day. But just because the bride does not want to be upstaged, does not mean the mother of the bride should be out of fashion. Today, mothers of the bride are no longer willing to blend in with the wallpaper. They put in as much time as the bride to find the right look. Frump is out and style is in. They wear dresses that are well-tailored and age appropriate. Their shoes, bags, jewelry, and other accessories are expertly coordinated with their dresses. As they should, since wedding pictures are forever. Today, mothers of the bride are more than just mothers, they are style icons. They want dresses that perform in more than one function. Today, mothers of the bride want dresses they can actually wear after the wedding. Today, mothers of the bride can find all this, and more.

To get the perfect dress, mothers of the bride should follow five rules when picking out dresses for before, during, and after, the wedding:

  • Choose an outfit that respects the wedding color(s), however remember colors come in all palettes and hues. Bold does not always mean loud.

  • Simple is timeless. Following the latest fashion or runway trend limits the time and wearability of an outfit.

  • Tailored outfits for your body type will flatter your figure. Off the rack is fine, just remember to nip and tuck.

  • Accessorizing with lightweight outerwear not only is figure slimming, it takes an outfit from morning to night.

  • Let your accessories bring the detail. Busy dresses are generally bad decisions.

By body type, here are some Mother of the bride dresses that rule during and after the wedding.

Small top, Wide bottom or Big top, Small bottom

A small top, wide bottom woman has a small to average bust, a slender waist, and full thighs and hips. To create a sense of balance with your body, wear two tone dresses with bright tops and darker bottoms. A-line skirts are slimming. Consider blousy and off the shoulder necklines which give depth. Adding matching or coordinated outerwear to the dress also brings balance. Here are styles that bring style to women with small tops, and wide bottoms.

Two two-toned dresses are flattering as well as functional. Choosing a dress with a white portrait collar or white strip of fabric outlining the neckline, as well as one with an embellished cinched waist bands, take emphasis away from the bottom.

If the mother of the bride is big on the top, but has a small bottom, do the reverse - bold colors on the bottom, with darker, muted colors on the top.

For either body type, a stunning Jacquard and sleeveless Shantung are attractive. Their embellished top dress can be worn alone or with its matching Jacquard jacket. The three-quarter jacket sleeves complement small or heavy set arms.

Tall and Slender

Tall and slender mothers of the bride have small busts, narrow waists and hips, and long lean arms. Choose light and soft colors, as well as pleats and full skirts, to round out your frame. If you add outerwear, choose one with large colors and cuffs.

Flattering styles include soft colors, like lilac. Hammered tiered round neck dresses, one-shoulder tiered long dresses with matching cover ups, and angled tier, empire style, cap sleeve dresses slim and bring attention to all the right places.

Full-figured

Round figured Mothers of the Bride have full busts, round midsections, and heavy arms. To bring balance buy dresses that create a line that gives height. If you're petite or tall steer away from long flowy dresses. Knee length dresses are the most flattering. Combining a dress and outer coat of the same length, as with a Shantung coat and dress, or a two piece suit of the same color, as with this metallic brocade two piece, will also give a smooth line.

Curvy Body

Petite or tall, curvy mothers of the bride can wear almost anything because their bust, waist, and legs are in proportion. Fitted dresses are the most becoming. V and scoop necks show off the bust-line. Don't hide your curves behind ill, loose fitting dresses, or blousy necklines.

This halter top, buckled waistline dress comes with a matching cover that can be worn over both or one shoulder. After the wedding, shorten the dress to just above the knee to create a flowing sophisticated dress wearable for many occasions.

Jacquard and Shantung broach detailed dresses with a three-quarter sleeved bolero or a two-piece black bolero and ruffled tank dress, can be worn with the bolero at the wedding, and without when the Mother of the bride needs more freedom.

Weddings are auspicious occasions. Today, mothers of the bride have a vast selection of dresses and ensembles that are stylish and fashionable. Selecting a well-tailored and ageless designed dress that complements your body type, mothers of the bride dresses can be worn after the wedding to all types of special occasions.

Mother of the Bride Outfits - The Selection Process

When shopping for mother of the bride outfits, there are many options from which to choose, and it can be difficult to select the perfect dress. Although the mother of the bride traditionally is allowed to select whatever outfit she wants for the occasion, there are a few tips that mothers can follow to insure that the mother of the bride outfit they select will blend in perfectly with their daughter's wedding.

Mother of the bride wedding outfits can be found in formal styles, as well as those which are a little more casual. It can help to discuss the overall format of the wedding with the bride, to find out which type of outfit would be most appropriate.

There might also be a wedding color scheme that ideally should be coordinated with. However, it is usually not a good idea to select a mother of the bride outfit in the same color as the bridesmaid dresses, and instead it can look nice to select a color that either coordinates or which is a different shade within the same family. And, of course the bride should be the only one wearing white.

It can also be helpful to see what type of wedding dress the bride has selected, because the mother certainly will not want to upstage the bride with an elaborate outfit, if her daughter has selected a simple and streamlined wedding gown.

Wedding outfits for mother of the bride selection can sometimes be perceived to be a little bit on the matronly side. While this is sometimes the case, there are also designer mother of the bride outfits which are stylish and fresh looking, and would be completely suitable for somebody looking for a younger-looking outfit.

Mother of the bride outfits are available in local stores of course, but many people prefer at least starting their search online, because there is such a wide selection from which to choose. For instance, plus size mother of the bride outfits are often more abundant and easier to locate when searching online, just because there are more online stores than what you would be able to find locally.

Although women are sometimes hesitant to order such an important outfit online, it is important to keep in mind that mother of the bride outfits, regardless of where they are purchased, will almost always require some additional fitting and tailoring anyway. You can also search online to find local stores at which to shop. For example, searching for "mother of the bride outfits UK" will produce dozens of stores at which you can shop for this important outfit. Mother of the brides' outfits can often be found on sale, both in local stores as well as online. This can be a good way to get a great outfit at an economical price. Especially if the wedding is planned well in advance, seasonal clearance sales can be taken advantage of.

Perfectly suitable mother of the bride groom outfits can also be found many times in the women's formal wear section of department stores, so that is another option for locating an outfit at a good price. Whichever outfit you choose, remember that mother of the bride outfits are worn for what is hopefully a once-in-a-lifetime event, so go ahead and splurge on whatever outfit appeals to you the most.

Lynn Moreno writes in an informational site dedicated to mother of the bride outfits, in which she will help you decide which is the appropriate dress for you to wear on your daughter's wedding. For free information, guidance and advice, please visit Mother of the Bride Outfits Guide.

Flirty Mother of the Bride Dresses For Fun Moms

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Sure, the father of the bride has to make a little speech. Big whoop! Tell a few bad jokes, tear up a bit, and raise a glass. The audience has to clap. And they think that's pressure? No. When it comes to a daughter's wedding, the mother of the bride has one of the most important and unappreciated roles. It is her job to actually set the sartorial tone of the event (at least for the mothers) with the selection of her dress. Yes, there is wedding dress etiquette for the moms.

Where to Begin?

Tradition dictates that the mother of the bride picks out her dress first and then informs the mother of the groom of her choice. Of course, this is an old tradition and it need not be followed. However, most mothers appreciate a call from a soon to be in-law. Not to mention the fact that it gives them a chance to get to know each other a bit and talk about the wedding.

Who Else Should You Call?

Informing the groom's mother of your dress selection is actually quite practical. Initially, it was to spare them the embarrassment of showing up in the same dress. A fashion redundancy that might just incite an inter-family scuffle which could result in the wedding being called off. Don't laugh, stranger things have happened. But these days the tradition is more about preventing overdressing and color clashes that can ruin expensive wedding photos.

Where does it End? With the prevalence of extended families these days, should the mother of the bride call the groom's stepmother? This is a difficult question to answer. The best play is to simply tell your daughter to tell her intended to tell his stepmother what you are wearing. That way you avoid offending the groom's mother by calling the new wife directly.

How About Color

No white, off white or anything even remotely like white. Only the bride gets to wear white at a wedding. What about black? As the color of mourning, black is also a definite no-no. And red? In the end it all depends on the shade. Tradition states that flashy colors are to be avoided at weddings. But must we always obey tradition? The simplest and most effective solution is to ask the advice of the bride. Or better yet, ask her to come shopping with you. If she is comfortable with a flashy, even sexy dress, then no one can or should object. However, if your daughter is a bit on the conservative side and prefers a more buttoned-down look, don't complain. Remember, it's her day!

And the Bridesmaids?

Again, this is a question that should be answered by the bride. Some maintain that all female members of the wedding party must have dresses that coordinate. But few brides will insist on this. More often than not, they simply want to make certain that the dresses don't clash. That is why the mother of the bride should always consult her daughter before she selects a dress.

When to Buy

The short answer: as soon as possible. As we mentioned, the mother of the bride should choose her dress before the groom's mother. Even if you don't plan on informing her of your selection, it is best to at least leave yourself that option. A general rule of thumb is that you should have your dress picked out at least month before the wedding. And even that is cutting is close. After all, if there's an issue with the dress, alterations take time and money to complete.

How Dressy is too Dressy?

Etiquette and tradition informs us that the dress code does depend in part upon the time of day that the wedding takes place. If the wedding is held during the day, slightly more casual dress with fewer accessories is acceptable, even encouraged. However, if the wedding is held at night, formal wear remains de rigueur.

How Sexy is too Sexy?

Okay, so you're a hot mama. Some kids even call you a cougar, whatever that means. Can you wear a sexy strapless ball gown to your daughter's wedding? Once again, it all depends on your daughter. If she is comfortable with you dressing a little sexy on her big day, go for! If not, there are countless other options that won't make you look old before your time. After all, class and style does not have to mean boring and buttoned-down.

Probably the easiest way to spice up a simple dress is to add an accessory or two. Scarves, broaches, sequined purses and understated jewelry are popular additions for the mother of the bride. Just remember, no bright colors or oversized jewelry. Accessories are meant to complement your ensemble, not detract from it.

Beautiful Mother of the Bride Dresses That Are Great For Warm Weather Weddings

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The mother of the bride always wants to look elegant at her daughter's big day. Not only does she want to choose a dress that has appropriate length and color, she wants comfort, especially for a warm weather wedding. Mother of the bride dresses have changed over the years, and now mothers have the opportunity to look great, feel beautiful and show everyone where her daughter got her good taste from.

Short and Sleeveless Dresses

For warm weather weddings, the mother of the bride will want to look for a dress with light fabric and most likely, a lighter color. Many mothers of the bride choose sleeveless, shorter dress styles for warm weather weddings. The surplice mesh dress is perfect style for a mother of the bride to keep cool. This light dress sports a flattering cut and usually has an empire waist, often adorned with beading.

For a more flowing look, the sleeveless, long chiffon beaded waist dress is the perfect look. Many styles of this dress have single or double spaghetti straps, which are often adjustable. An added bonus, the beaded bodice will certainly accentuate the waist and to add extra flair, a flowing, sheer scarf is the perfect accessory.

Another sleeveless option is the metallic chiffon halter dress with a ruched waist band. Many styles of this dress are also adorned with beaded buckles to accentuate a slimmed waistline.

Should short sleeves be a more cool, comfortable fit, there are many dress styles available to choose from. A beautiful style choice is the hammered shimmer cap sleeve dress, which is short tiered.

Another classic short sleeved dress, the shantung portrait collar dress gracefully lays across the shoulders. This dress also serves as a perfect silhouette, especially when accented by a tie at the waist.

Jackets

A short suit jacket has always been a popular choice for the mother of the bride. With 3/4 length sleeves and a slim knee-length skirt, any mother of the bride will look stylish and sophisticated in this outfit. A conventional choice for this style is the two-piece floral jacquard suit with rosette detail. A mother of the bride can also consider the jacquard cap sleeve bolero with a short tank dress for ultimate elegance.

Many mothers of the bride choose to compliment their summer selection with a bolero jacket, which comes in many styles. For a bolero jacket that has ruffle detail, the shantung short bolero jacket dress is a perfect selection. Of course should it simply get too warm, this style offers the option to remove the bolero jacket, revealing a classic silhouette dress underneath. In the same genre, the stretch style dress will provide a mother of the bride with ultimate comfort. The stretch, shimmer 3/4 sleeve short jacket style is chic and flattering.

For the mother of the bride who wants to shimmer and still have the option of wearing the bolero jacket, the hammered shimmer jacket with short tiered dress is an obvious choice. This shining silver two-piece ensemble generally comes with a 3/4 sleeve bolero and short tiered dress with spaghetti straps and beading underneath.

Whichever fabric, length, color or style dress the mother of the bride chooses, for a warm weather wedding, she should dress formal and go for dazzle. Because summer nights can get cool, the bolero jacket, 3/4 sleeve jacket and sheer, flowing scarf can serve as the perfect cover.

Lace Gowns

Lace has certainly made a comeback and for the stylish, bold mother of the bride a half knit, half lace dress is a great, unique option. The arguably best dress for this look is a portrait collar knit dress with a lace skirt. A portrait collar lays gracefully across the shoulders and the slim lace skirt serves as a perfect, sophisticated contrast. There are many dresses out there that have a portrait collar and short sleeve, which is a truly classic choice for a warm weather wedding.

For a new, fresh look, the mother of the bride can look for a one-shouldered dress. A chiffon tiered dress is perfect for this style. Many mother of the brides choose a colored light scarf for this dress, which serves as a fashionable cover up, especially after the sun sets.

Choosing a dress for her daughter's wedding should not be a stressful experience for the mother of the bride, it should be a fun, memorable experience. Sometimes the best way to choose a dress is to involve the bride to be, family and friends. Make a day of it! These dress suggestions for a warm weather wedding will help the mother of the bride to be beautiful and elegant for one of the most special days for her and her daughter!

Mother of the Bride Outfits - The Shopping Process

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Mother of the bride outfits must satisfy many different aspects of a wedding plan. This fact alone makes it nearly impossible to choose something that will satisfy both the bride and her mother.

Some brides choose to coordinate wedding outfits for mother of the bride in the same color scheme or style as the rest of the women in the wedding party. Other brides leave the choice up to their mothers, but give a few style and color preferences. Those who choose the latter option should be sure that they trust the fashion tastes of their own mothers and that they trust the mother will not choose a dress that might clash with other wedding choices or upstage the bride. It is also very important to take into account what the mother of the groom is going to wear. It is both polite and traditional to let the mother of the bride choose first and then let the mother of the groom know about any decisions made so she can shop for her outfit accordingly.

Mother of the bride wedding outfits should almost never be black. Even if the wedding party uses black as one of its colors, a mother of the bride outfit should steer clear of this choice. As a fabric color choice, it is far more dramatic than the mother of a bride should be. It also tends to suck attention away from the bride - something no caring mother would choose for her child. The same is true for wearing white. The star of the show - the bride - should have that honor exclusively.

It makes a lot of sense to make the dress that the mother of the bride wears a joint decision. This is especially true for plus size mother of the bride outfits. You never want to blindly choose a style that is fashionable, aligned with your choices for bridesmaids, but is a poor style choice for the body of your mother.

It is more than possible to select a color and then find the right style that is suited to the particular body of the mother of the bride. All mother of the bride outfits should take body build into consideration.

If the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom get along, it is often a good idea to have them both consult one another on outfits to be sure there is no clashing or duplicating of styles. Mother of the groom outfits should be just as sophisticated and dazzling, but they should reflect a different personality and fashion choice than mother of the brides outfits. There should be an easy way to distinguish between these two important people in a wedding - even before they are formally introduced.

Designer mother of the bride outfits offer a larger array of choices, depending on the budget and who is responsible for paying. Discount salons, online boutiques and consignment shops offer brides a chance to scoop up a huge savings on designer label dresses and pantsuits.

Do not feel compelled to stick to high-end stores to find name brand clothing, and do not believe that you must stick to ordering only from United States retailers. Mother of the bride outfits UK or mother of the bride outfits from other countries can offer some fresh alternatives. When you and your mother are ready to make your selection, your list of choices is wide open.

When women do the shopping looking for mother of the bride outfits they usually find that it can be very stressful. There are certain rules of etiquette that should be adhered to in order to achieve success. Lynn Moreno will help you with her Mother of the Bride Outfits Guide informational website with lots of different tips and ideas.

Mother of Bride Speech - Expression of a Mother's Love For Her Daughter

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You are looking for ways on how to write a memorable mother of bride speech? It only implies that your daughter has at last decided to become more responsible by marrying her partner. Some may say that you have to get started writing your special message right after the wedding date is chosen. It's quite logical to do that. If you are able to complete your speech in advance, you'll have time to practice delivering it.

Now, if you don't have a lot of time for this, you don't have to worry. I'll be offering plenty of help by pointing you towards the right direction. To begin with, here are useful tips you never want to miss in writing your wedding speech:

  • First, just admit that you need to prepare. Even the most-remembered speakers spend time reviewing basics. Preparing is a way of expressing your love for your daughter. A very good way of getting ready is reading wedding speech samples with the right mixture of content, hilarity and emotions.

  • It helps if you brainstorm ideas. The mother of the bride speech is really your intimate message for your daughter and her partner. Write down all things you can think about your daughter - your fondest memories of her, funny moments - anything. Also don't forget to put some things about your future son-in-law. You may even tell your prediction about their married life. You should put everything on paper to make sure you won't forget important stuff.

  • Decide on a theme to use all throughout your speech. Try using a theme that you and your daughter treat as special. This may be a game or any activity, a lifestyle or career choice, or just preferred meals. Your theme should be easy enough for the audience to figure out, and yet invites the use of creativity.

  • Organize a detailed outline you can easily follow. After jotting down all your ideas, pick the most essential stuff that you want to include in your speech. After that, list a sequence of these key points. Having an outline will easily enable you to complete your speech. Your outline serves as your roadmap to an excellent message. A theme and outline work harmoniously in developing a great message.

  • Embrace your son-in-law as your own. Your speech must propose that you already treat the groom together with his family as part of your own. By doing this, you are also able to show your great love for your daughter, through accepting who she cares for.

Fresh Ideas For the Mother of the Bride

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There was a time when being the mother of the bride meant that you would be forced to wear a frumpy pale blue dress with a big corsage that made you look like the Queen Mum. No matter how stylish she was in real life, the fashions designed for the bride's mom made her look and feel more like the grandmother of the bride. Happily, these days there are fresh and appealing ways that the bride's mother can look appropriate while feeling fabulous.

One of the biggest changes has been in what clothing is deemed suitable for the mother of the bride. Forget the polyester chiffon nightmare that your mom had to wear; today's styles are chic and up-to-date. A great trend for mothers of the bride is that some of the better designers of bridesmaid dresses have turned their hands to creating equally stylish options for the other members of the bridal party.

Strapless dresses are one new idea for the mother of the bride. This will of course depend on your comfort level with revealing your arms, but many moms these days are as fitness-oriented as their daughters, with the toned arms to prove it! If you have triceps like Michelle Obama, then by all means, go ahead and show them off with a sleeveless or strapless dress for your daughter's wedding. If propriety is an issue for a religious ceremony, it is simple enough to add a shrug, shawl, or bolero to wear for the service.

Another new trend for the bride's mother is to wear accessories that are almost as stunning as what the bride herself has chosen. Of course you would not dream of wearing a tiara to your daughter's wedding, but a sparkling brooch makes a wonderful accent for an updo or to sweep the hair back from your face. Mothers of the bride are also wearing really fabulous wedding jewelry these days. You do not have to limit yourself to a demure strand of pearls . If you have always loved pearl jewelry, treat yourself to a dramatic strand of black or peacock pearls to wear for the wedding. You can also turn to fabulous sparkling Swarovksi crystal jewelry in rich and sophisticated colors like amber or amethyst.

Traditionally the mother of the bride wore a floral corsage pinned to her dress. There is nothing wrong with this, but you also have other options to consider. One of the freshest ideas is for the mothers of the bride and groom to forgo the corsage and carry a small posey of flowers down the aisle instead. With the rising popularity of strapless dresses for the mother of the bride, wrist corsages have also seen a comeback. If your preference is to keep the mom's flowers on her dress, a very pretty and modern look is to pin the corsage to a sash or belt around the waist of her dress.

Just as bridesmaids no longer have to wear hoop skirts, poufy sleeves, and pastel hats, the mothers of the bride and groom will find that their time to look stylish has come as well. The current trends in mother of the bride attire give each woman the chance to express her personal style. Not only will you look beautiful for your daughter's wedding, you will actually be able to wear a dress that reflects your own unique taste (with the bride's approval, naturally!).

Mother of the Bride and Groom Speech

Image : http://www.flickr.com

In the event you are called upon to give a Mother of the Bride and Groom speech or toast, these hints may provide some useful ideas for you. It is hard enough to speak before a large gathering of friends and family, but involving feelings or emotions and rational thought might disappear along with your tongue.

Hopefully, you will not be called upon to speak without advance knowledge, but if you are, give the possibility of a Mother of the Bride or Groom Speech some thought prior to the event. Given some time to think about what words you will use and given the chance to edit your words, you can probably come up with something pretty special. Speaking from your heart is always the way to go. It is the opportunity for mothers to combine the love, fear, pride and work it took to raise the bride and groom to this day.

Immediately and without thought to punctuation or grammar, write down everything that comes to mind. When your mind stops, read what you have written. I bet it sounds pretty good and will make an excellent starting point. Review it, re-read it, ponder on it, edit here and there and you are off and running.

Don not forget to say thanks. You know who contributed to make your son or daughter the beautiful person they have become and who contributed their time, money and effort to help make this day a success. Let everyone attending know, too. A heartfelt acknowledgment will earn you the gratitude of all who helped with your special day.

Include some advice to the newlyweds, but keep it simple, short and humorous. Face it, none of us have all the answers just life experience we can impart.

Since it is expected, a few words about the pride you have in your son or daughter are always acceptable assuming you don not overdo it. You would be remiss to not say a few words about your feelings for your son or daughter since you are one of the Mothers of the day. Let common sense dictate here since you do not want to embarrass them, simply show how proud you are of them.

Sincere and loving words of welcome for your new daughter or son-in-law and their family are always nice and go a long way towards meshing the two families.

Keep all comments positive. Now is not the time for anything else. You words will have a bearing on the ambiance of the day and the tone of future days. Do not let anything you say contribute anything but cheer, joy and happiness. Avoid all words that are not positive.

Avoid all but the barest mist of tears during your speech. Emotional outbursts cloud your message, make listeners uncomfortable and can very possibly turn a happy occasion into a sad, or at the very least, an uncomfortable one.

Lastly, short and sweet should be the order of the day for everyone who has been asked to speak. The day belongs to the wedding couple. You have been asked to speak to contribute, not dominate the occasion. Make your son and daughter proud of you today and you will reap the benefits for a long time to come.

The Important Roles of the Mother of the Bride

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Not too long ago, the mother of the bride did most of the planning for her daughter's wedding. This ranged from helping her choose her dress to helping her choose her bridesmaids to making the actual preparations for the wedding ceremony and the reception. The mother of the bride was in a unique position to do so - after all she had been a bride herself not too long ago and was aware of the traditions and customs. Often, the daughter's wedding was also when the mother got to do some of the things that she would have loved to have at her own wedding but couldn't - because her mother was managing things!

Of course, things have changed a lot since then. Nowadays, brides are no longer naïve creatures unaware of the workings of the world. Most have careers and have lived by themselves for many years. They are thus highly likely to have very definite ideas about what to have and what not to have at their weddings. Apart from this, there are also professional wedding planners who have taken on the task of planning and organizing the wedding from the mother of the bride.

However, despite this, the mother of the bride still has a very important role to play at her daughter's wedding though the exact level of involvement depends on the bride and her mother. On occasions when the wedding is being held at the home of the bride's parents or in their hometown, it is but natural that the involvement of the mother of the bride will be much more than it would be if the wedding was being held somewhere else.

The most important role that the mother of the bride plays is that of the primary support of the bride. Weddings nowadays can be very stressful, physically, emotionally and mentally. It is not rare for brides to feel overwhelmed by it all. It is up to the mother of the bride to always be there for her daughter when her daughter needs her, with a sympathetic ear and a strong shoulder to lean on. The mother of the bride should ideally be ready with a warm smile and some practical advice whenever things go a bit out of control, having been through the whole crazy process herself.

The mother and father of the bride should ideally also handle the guest list for their side of the family starting with deciding on who all will be attending and going on to sending out the invitations, checking up on RSVPs and, if required, making arrangements for the travel and accommodation of out-of-state guests. The mother of the bride also acts as the hostess at the reception making sure that all the guests are welcomed and taken care of.

In addition to this, the mother of the bride may also have to help out the bride with a range of activities such as picking out the dress and looking for wedding locations. In general, it is a good idea for the mother of the bride to have a chat with her daughter well before the wedding to find out what all her daughter expects her to do as this will help both of them plan things better. It is best to let the bride decide such matters. If she feels that she needs a lot of her mother's help, her mother should accommodate her needs as far as possible.

On the other hand, should the bride feel that she can manage without too much of her mother's help, her mother should not feel bad about it and should gracefully accede to her wishes. Of course, either way, she must also make it clear that she stands ready to help her daughter, anytime her daughter needs it.
