The Groom: Include the groom and weave in a joke or two about how he met your daughter of how he proposed to her. This will make him feel part of your family and appreciated! Drop a few pearls of wisdom and you've got the right mixture of sentiment and humor.

The Wedding: No wedding ever goes without a mishap or two. Put a little extra twist on these little small mishaps and use them in your speech. There is always a little nugget or two that maybe caught your eye. You can use this in your speech to add a more personal touch to your father of the bride speech.

3 Savvy and Exciting Ways To Include Humor In Your Father of the Bride Speech

1) Use Funny Wedding Anecdotes - A Wedding Anecdote is a short story with a humorous ending. You can either make up your own anecdote or use a well-known one like the following

The Promise of Marriage

"Molly and Peter have been married for almost 48 years and have raised a brood of 12 children and are blessed with 23 grandchildren. When asked the secret for staying together for such a long time, Molly replies: Many years ago we made a promise to each other: The first one to pack up and leave must take all the kids."

of a very nice chap
who received three proposals that day!"

3) Use Wedding One-liners - There is numerous wedding one-liners available for you to use in your speech. It is best to start off your speech with a punchy one-liner to grab the attention of the guests and to act as an ice-breaker. Here is examples of a few wedding one-liners you can use:

Toast the Bride and Groom - Make Their Wedding Memorable

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The wedding day is one of the most anticipated and momentous events in a couple's life together. From the flowers to the dress to the vows, the couple expects every detail, no matter how minute, to be perfectly planned, arranged and executed. The wedding toast is no exception. For the best man or the fathers to toast bride and groom is to wish the newly married couple happiness and health as they begin their new lives. The groom may also wish to prepare a toast for his new bride, his new in-law's and those who helped make the wedding day both memorable and complete. Preparing the precise words to say does not have to be overwhelming or stressful. However, an exceptional toast is usually prepared in advance rather than given impromptu with little, if any, forethought. There are some simple rules to planning the perfect wedding toast that will be sure to wow not only the bride and groom but the guests as well.

When preparing to toast bride and groom, it is not necessary to pen an elaborate and wordy essay. In general, the speech for a toast should only last for a couple of minutes, with the average speech concluding in about one minute. Because the speech short, it is best to memorize the toast rather than read it from a piece of paper, index card or crumpled napkin. The bride and groom will be more appreciative of the heartfelt, well-planned speech than they will a recitation of empty words scribbled only a few seconds beforehand. While some people are great at improvised speeches, there are many people who struggle to think on their feet. At an occasion as important as a wedding, a rambling, choppy, poorly planned toast can be a disaster.

While the toast should be thoughtful, adding humor and wit to the speech can make it more personal and charming. However, discernment and discretion must be used wisely. Distasteful or embarrassing stories should be avoided. It is recommended that any toasts be practiced before an audience prior to the wedding day in order to ensure the speech is not in any way offensive. To toast bride and groom is to honor them both on their special day, and avoiding unsavory language or stories is advisable. In addition, it is of utmost importance that a toast is not given by an inebriated party. Any party responsible for a toast at the wedding should limit alcohol intake until after the toast.

One of the most important things to remember when giving a toast is to have everyone raise their glass at the end of the speech. The toast to bride and groom is an expression of the approval of the marriage and well wishes for a happy lifetime of marriage.

Memorable Centerpiece

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Often when one mentions a centerpiece, people first consider a wedding reception centerpiece. Of course such a reception needs a very memorable centerpiece. There are a plethora of things you could purchase that would look very nice, agreed, but there are times when the personal touch is best, such as when we make a memorable centerpiece.

Some brides want flowers of course, but the goal should be to use seasonal flowers as centerpieces, which are currently in season for that area. First that makes them less expensive, but more importantly they are easy to get, so that there is no interminable wait and the scary thought that they may not arrive in time.

Following flowers, you might instead consider an arrangement of fruit. Fresh fruit, such as apples, oranges and grapefruits give off a heavenly odor, and thus everyone wants to take home the centerpieces too, so that they can eat them!

Some have used vegetables to make the most amazing centerpieces you can imagine. For example white bows holding together an arrangement of green beans, artichokes, and asparagus actually makes an elegant and very memorable centerpiece.

Centerpieces that are made up of the couple while they were dating and engaged, always makes a stunning and very intimate centerpiece. There are plastic cubes sold especially to show 8 pictures each. With computers holding the majority of our pictures today, all you need do is to purchase photo paper and use your printer to make the centerpieces.

Dried flowers make lovely centerpieces, and there's no worries about them wilting or dropping petals all over the tables either. The best part is that these centerpieces can be made way ahead of time.

If the bride and groom have had a sunrise ceremony at the beach, then carry that beach theme into your centerpieces. For instance there are some very low cost sand castles available at $1 shops everywhere, as well as starfish and the like that will make a stunning centerpiece.

Available too at craft stores are white feathers. You'd be surprised how elegant feathers in tall vases can be when used as a centerpiece.

Another memorable centerpiece can be made with tea light candles arranged on glass blocks in the form of a wedding cake. You'll get a lot of ooh's and ahh's out of those.

Finally never discount the pure elegance of glass bowls filled with water, with various plants in them. However, in the center of each use tea light candles in them. The reflection of the fire on the water will be absolutely romantic.

Pakistani Wedding - What a Memorable Event

Image : http://www.flickr.com

A wedding in Pakistan can take up to a year of planning, and is considered the most stable means of living between two adults. It is not uncommon for family members to plan the wedding. Another name given to a Pakistani wedding is shaadi. Although most families make arrangements for who the bride will marry, modern-day love marriages are starting to become more prevalent. Marriage between cousins of the Pakistan tradition is also not considered to be unheard of.

Before the wedding, there is a proposal party where the parents and family of the groom ask for permission from the bride's family and parents for her hand in marriage. Some families will present one another with gifts of gold and other types of jewelry to be worn on the wedding day, although not all families choose to do this. The next step preceding a Pakistani wedding is an engagement party between families. This is when the rings are exchanged. Depending on the family's individual tradition, some may still allow the rings to be presented by the family, although it is not uncommon for the bride and groom to exchange the rings themselves. The engagement party is often referred to as Mangni, and involves the very important step of deciding when the wedding day will be.

After the wedding day is determined, the Mayun is celebrated. The Mayun is a symbolization of the bride's upcoming wedding. She is given no chores or errands, and is not allowed to see her groom-to-be until the official day of the ceremony. The bride's family and close friends are all present for this celebration. Singing, dancing, and beautification rituals all begin during the Mayun.

The next celebration is referred to as a Dholki. The bride wears a yellow Pakistani outfit and celebrates with her family by singing popular wedding songs. The following ceremonies include the Mehndi, Barat, along with a few others, and then finally, the wedding. The Mehndi celebrations are held separately, and are provided for both the bride and groom. While the bride is celebrating, the groom stays home, and vice versa. The bride's family is present for the groom, and brings to him sweets and henna. Likewise, the groom's family will also do the same for the bride.

The Barat includes the groom and fellow family members and friends as they make their way to the bride's home for the Pakistani wedding ceremony. The groom usually makes his way on a horse or in a car along with several other vehicles and/or horses carrying his family members and friends. Once the groom makes it to the bride's home, he is greeted by her sisters, friends, and cousins as they present him with an array of flower garlands and rose petals. After a few more days of ceremonial traditions, the wedding finally takes place. The bride and groom each wear dress attire and are joined together by an Islamic priest. Both the bride and groom's family are present, as are their family and friends. The bride's wedding gown is usually very beautiful and unique, along with her jewelry and veil. Grooms in Pakistan are to wear a turban to their weddings, although some prefer to take a more modern approach and wear jackets and trousers. The brides will wear a lot of makeup and show off their artwork. Each will exchange their vows, and once the marriage is official, a Holy Koran is to be held above the bride's head as she joins her husband's family. Finally, the marriage papers are signed in front of the priest and guests.

A Pakistani Wedding can be fun and memorable event.

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Weddings are such lovely occasions. They are just the perfect place for love, laughter, romance and tears. There is a very magical and exciting feel about weddings. Everyone enjoys a wedding. It must be because of the gorgeous ladies in their beautiful dresses and the handsome men in their stunning tuxedos, or it might be because of love and romance all around which makes it so attractive.

Maybe it's all that is stated above and more.

During the wedding, the bride's father is in a complex position, where he has mixed feelings of love, happiness and sadness because he finally realizes that his little child is going to have a life of her own with the person she loves. He has to give his daughter away to another man.

Father of the bride speeches are a formality but they are a great way for the father to accept that his lovely bud has now blossomed into a flower and it is time to give her away. It is also the best time to welcome the new man. It isn't that easy to express your feelings in limited words, so just let your heart guide you. Father of the bride speeches should be memorable, humorous, witty and sincere. Whatever you write in your father of the bride speech won't be found anywhere, for it is exclusive.

Father of the bride speeches are usually touching, heartfelt and warm. Walking down the aisle with your daughter can be the proudest but a very heart rending moment for a father. He has to accept the fact that he has been sweetly nudged by his daughter to obtain the second position for the most important man in her life.

However you have to prepare a speech and show her how happy you are for her. All father of the bride speeches are serious with a pinch of humor. When it comes to giving that wonderful father of the bride speeches, you should be very careful not to embarrass anyone, especially your daughter. It is fine to talk about her young age, her growing up years, and such sweet moments like a family outing, or her first step, teaching her to ride a bike etc. Try and keep the stories short and sweet.

Another aspect that should not be ignored in the father of the bride speeches is the topic about your son in law. Everyone loves a little humor and stories; this is normally expected in the father of the bride speeches. Be sure to compliment the groom and welcome him and his family to your own and even let him know how he makes your daughter happy.

You should write the father of the bride speech well in advance, and even get a second opinion on the format. Practice is very important; if you are the nervous types it will help you gain confidence. Speak clearly so that everyone can hear and appreciate your speech. Memorable Wedding Gifts For the Parents of the Bride and Groom

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When shopping for wedding gifts, it is tradition for the happy couple to give gifts of thanks and appreciation to the wedding party. Perhaps the most meaningful gift they'll be looking for will be the gifts for mom and dad. After all they are most likely helping to pay for this momentous occasion, plus parents are an extremely important part of any wedding celebration. The happy couple wants to not only show their love but also their appreciation for everything mom and dad have done for them throughout their lives.

My personal favorite gift to give is anything personalized. Not only are there literally millions of gift ideas to choose from online, but no matter what the occasion, a gift that is engraved or personalized turns an ordinary gift into something extraordinary. Personalized wedding gifts are the kind that will be greatly enjoyed and cherished for years to come.

Items like: a jewelry box, watch box, tear collecting bottle/keepsake, liquor flask, silver plated pocket watch, money clip, wine gifts which include stoppers, totes, crystal glasses and personalized gift boxes are also memorable and truly unique. Other ideas include items like: gift baskets which come in a huge selection of themes, colors and styles sure to please even the most discriminating and golf gifts like: a divot tool and ball marker, shoe bag, paid club membership, new shoes or a shadow box. Also cufflinks, stylish tote bags, leather travel bags, leather briefcases and even smoking accessories like cigar boxes and Zippo lighters can all be personalized.

Another favorite gift to give is something that mom and dad will not only enjoy, but should help them to relax and unwind after all that stressful wedding planning. Gifts like: a bed and breakfast weekend getaway or just a certificate so they can choose the destination, a weekend spa retreat, day at the spa or again a gift certificate so they can choose. Also try an adventure certificate booklet that allows mom and dad to take a vacation of their choice which is something you know they'll absolutely love. Otherwise try giving a gift certificate to a favorite store or the gift of a dinner reservation for two at a favorite restaurant for fun and memorable gifts that are fun to give while helping to create new memories.

The last bunch of gift ideas again can be personalized but also make memorable keepsakes that can be proudly displayed for all to see. Items like: a personalized framed poem, photo frame or photo album which should also include pictures, a keepsake handkerchief for mom, a crystal plaque engraved with a poem or any personal message, sterling silver or gold jewelry or a watch and even a personalized afghan or throw. If you're really talented you can even make the afghan or throw for a memorable keepsake that is truly one of a kind. And last but not least you could also have a DVD movie made of the wedding and reception or just get mom and dad a funny T-shirt, sweatshirt or hat that can be personalized to say pretty much anything.

With so many choices out there it's hard to pick just one. Of course most weddings are on some sort of budget, so how do you find the perfect wedding gift for mom and dad that will be useful, memorable and affordable? Answer: Look on the internet. Finding the perfect wedding gift shouldn't have to be difficult. Shopping online brings you millions of choices and some really great deals; all you need to do is browse around. Plus shopping from the comfort of your own home or even during your lunch break can not only save you lots of time but also money and stress.

Give the gift that best fits into their lifestyle and unique personalities for a truly memorable gift mom and dad will love and thank you for. Of course mom and dad will appreciate the thought and love the sentiment behind whatever gift you should want to give. Good luck and as always Happy Shopping :-)

Fun and Memorable Shower Gifts For the Bride-To-Be

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Traditionally, most brides-to-be are expecting shower gifts that are very helpful when they became housewives. A bride may tend to expect household items that she and her husband-to-be can use when they begin their new life together. These items can be stuff that bride would use to care her husband, and maintain their own home. With this idea, to come up with a bridal shower gift is as easy as going to the house wares section of your local department stores.

However, bridal shower ideas have changed. Traditional gifts are no longer a hit nowadays. Don't be the only one who brings vacuum while everyone else has prepared great bridal shower gift ideas that a modernized bride will really appreciate. Something that can pamper and prepare the bride-to-be for her upcoming event can make an idea preference to come up with a very nice shower present.

Today's brides are no longer from being daddy's little girl, to man's new other behalf. Modern brides are usually independent living their lives on their own for a while, have their own career, and are interested in living in a married life. This will going to be a major commitment, therefore their independent experience mold them, becoming them ready and brave to face a new challenge of life.

The time comes that you, a close friend of bride-to-be, should give something that she wouldn't buy for herself or something she won't remember as her wedding day draws near. Here are few gift suggestions to pamper your friend, the bride-to-be:

* Spa Gift. Spa gift is definitely perfect if to pamper the bride is what you really opt give. Why not treat her in a day at spa? A day of relaxation in a spa or massage parlor can release some of the bride's wedding jitters. You could also give spa collection. For instance, a gift basket filled with relaxing aromas can give her reason to enjoy hours of bathing. A spa basket include shower gels, soaps, lotions, soft towels and even scented candles and other personal items just for her.

* Wedding Survival Kit. Expect that the wedding will gonna be busy, full of excitement as well as surprises that sometimes, good or bad. Think of the things she might not think about as she's getting ready right before the ceremony begins. Give her a wedding survival kit gift, which she might not expect you can give. This idea works well and often used during the last minute preparation of the bride. It include hairspray, perfume, hair clips or pins, brush, lipstick, and anything she or her attendant might need right before the wedding entourage. Place them in a neat carrying case with a special note.

* Sentimental Present. Sentimental gift is a concept that works well for bride's family and best friends. The gift should refer to something that the bride and people that are very close to her heart have shared. Few good ideas are picture frames and photo albums. Include fun and memorable photos that will surely give her a teary eyes. You may consider engraved picture frames or albums that can make a special keepsake as she began to live her new life with a new companion. Other personalized gifts that can carry deep sentiment are engraved jewelry gifts, personalized bridal shirts and handbags.
