A "Breakfast at Tiffany's" Wedding

One of the most beloved movies of all time is "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Both on and off the silver screen, Audrey Hepburn was one of the most fabulous style icons of any time. The very stylish feeling of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" makes it an ideal source of inspiration for your wedding.

The first place to start is with your color scheme for the wedding. Naturally, you will want to use a liberal dose of Tiffany blue mixed with accents of white. For your bridesmaids' dresses, look for crisp A-line dresses done in the signature blue with a white ribbon sash at the waist. The look is great, because it will really set up your theme, and it is a very crisp and clean look. It is especially nice by the water, but would look great anywhere.

The Tiffany blue can be carried throughout the wedding reception. Choose table linens in that special shade of blue. You can finish the tables with white covers on the chairs, and blue sashes over the chair covers. If you like the look of a limited color palette, keep your flowers all-white. Or you can opt to add a dash of color to your blue and white scheme by using floral arrangements in a third color. Choices include pink for a feminine look, red for a bold look, lime green or yellow for a fresh and carefree look, or espresso brown to add a touch of sophistication.

The incredible style of Audrey Hepburn portraying Holly Golightly is one of the most memorable things about "Breakfast at Tiffany's". You can emulate her style by wearing a bridal gown in a tailored column design. If you really want to go all out, you could even have a wedding gown created in white that replicates the famous long black dress in the movie.

Don't forget about the accessories! A long black cigarette holder would be a bit too much, but a bride could certainly wear a small tiara like Miss Hepburn did. The other signature accessory in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" was the large pearls that Holly Golightly wore. Look for simple pearl bridal jewelry, like a classic strand. To get the effect just right, choose bridal jewelry created with a large pearl size, like a 10 or 12mm.

One of the other things that immediately comes to mind about "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is the magnificent musical score by Henry Mancini. Any bride planning a wedding based on the movie should definitely include some of his music in the reception. The best-known song from "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is "Moon River", which would make a beautiful choice for the bride and groom's first dance.

You can have a lot of fun designing favors with a Breakfast at Tiffany's theme. One idea is to have large cookies made to look like a gift box from Tiffany and Company. Another idea is to fill small Tiffany blue boxes with chocolate truffles and tie it all up with a white satin ribbon. In place of the Tiffany name on the favor box, have the bride and groom's names printed in the same font.

Most brides cannot afford to buy jewelry from an expensive jeweler for their entire bridal party, but you can still carry the theme into your bridesmaid gifts. You can order sterling silver Tiffany style bracelets online for a very affordable price. Personalize each one with the bridesmaid's initials for a very special gift.

One of the most important parts of planning a wedding is to choose the right theme. Whatever you choose for your design inspiration will set the tone for the whole day. If you are looking for a theme that is timeless and yet modern and chic, then a "Breakfast at Tiffany's" wedding could be perfect for you.
