Sri Lankan Wedding Traditions & Sri Lankan Bride's Dress

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Sri Lankan religious and cultural traditions feature a second reception after the couple's honeymoon. The family of the groom gives these receptions. It is known as a homecoming, and signifies the bringing back of a bride by the groom. Brides left their homes and joined the groom, a practice still widely held in rural areas and villages. Nowadays, most wedded couples opt to build their own homes, though at times there is a period of living at the groom's home until enough resources are saved for the move into their own homes. Grooms are known to live with their bride's family at times.

As with many similar Asian traditions of culture, Sri Lankan grooms and brides change into different types of dress at the conclusion of the reception. Like in the British tradition, this change of Sri Lankan bridal dress is named the going away dress, which is worn when the wedded couple are about to exit to their Toronto honeymoon. The Sri Lankan bridal dress is much more formal than the western tradition of dress, not unlike the bridal clothing, but can be of different colors and styles. This practice of changing the bridal dress to the going away clothing spans almost all Sri Lankan religions and cultures.

Sri Lankan Traditional Sari

There are four traditional silk saris worn during a Toronto Sri Lankan wedding. The first is worn at the ceremony of thalee, and features red and yellow colors, with a wide border. The second is worn following the marriage ceremony, and is known as Innaik Koorai, which features rose, yellow or muskat colors. The sari worn to the official Toronto ceremony of marriage registration is the third one, and his family pays these three saris on behalf of the groom.

The final Sri Lankan bridal dress sari is paid foe by the bride herself and is worn to the arrival ceremony of the wedding day's wedding stage. The bride's family also pays for a silk set of Salvai and Vesti to present at the wedding stage, for wearing at the marriage registration, which are a shirt and trouser for the groom. The groom presents the silk sari to the bride, as well with further traditional items following the pooja stage of the ceremony. This happens in between the changing of this Sri Lankan bridal dress sari for the ceremony of thalee wearing.

Along with the bride's attire (sari), there also includes a headpiece or veil, accessories such as gloves, under slips and shoes. Further accompaniments include the bridal jewelry and the bridal dressing, which includes makeup and hair. This is repeated for the going away and homecoming ceremonies. The bridesmaids and flower girls also receive wedding Sri Lankan bridal dress saris, along with all the accessories, makeup and hair, and jewelry.

Bridegroom Marriage Dress

The bridegroom selects appropriate wedding attire for him and the male ceremony party, including the best men and Paige boys, for the various ceremonies. The wedding assistants at the Toronto wedding hall or temple also get offered with wedding attire, as are the traditional Toronto ceremony musicians.

Fresh Ideas For the Mother of the Bride

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There was a time when being the mother of the bride meant that you would be forced to wear a frumpy pale blue dress with a big corsage that made you look like the Queen Mum. No matter how stylish she was in real life, the fashions designed for the bride's mom made her look and feel more like the grandmother of the bride. Happily, these days there are fresh and appealing ways that the bride's mother can look appropriate while feeling fabulous.

One of the biggest changes has been in what clothing is deemed suitable for the mother of the bride. Forget the polyester chiffon nightmare that your mom had to wear; today's styles are chic and up-to-date. A great trend for mothers of the bride is that some of the better designers of bridesmaid dresses have turned their hands to creating equally stylish options for the other members of the bridal party.

Strapless dresses are one new idea for the mother of the bride. This will of course depend on your comfort level with revealing your arms, but many moms these days are as fitness-oriented as their daughters, with the toned arms to prove it! If you have triceps like Michelle Obama, then by all means, go ahead and show them off with a sleeveless or strapless dress for your daughter's wedding. If propriety is an issue for a religious ceremony, it is simple enough to add a shrug, shawl, or bolero to wear for the service.

Another new trend for the bride's mother is to wear accessories that are almost as stunning as what the bride herself has chosen. Of course you would not dream of wearing a tiara to your daughter's wedding, but a sparkling brooch makes a wonderful accent for an updo or to sweep the hair back from your face. Mothers of the bride are also wearing really fabulous wedding jewelry these days. You do not have to limit yourself to a demure strand of pearls . If you have always loved pearl jewelry, treat yourself to a dramatic strand of black or peacock pearls to wear for the wedding. You can also turn to fabulous sparkling Swarovksi crystal jewelry in rich and sophisticated colors like amber or amethyst.

Traditionally the mother of the bride wore a floral corsage pinned to her dress. There is nothing wrong with this, but you also have other options to consider. One of the freshest ideas is for the mothers of the bride and groom to forgo the corsage and carry a small posey of flowers down the aisle instead. With the rising popularity of strapless dresses for the mother of the bride, wrist corsages have also seen a comeback. If your preference is to keep the mom's flowers on her dress, a very pretty and modern look is to pin the corsage to a sash or belt around the waist of her dress.

Just as bridesmaids no longer have to wear hoop skirts, poufy sleeves, and pastel hats, the mothers of the bride and groom will find that their time to look stylish has come as well. The current trends in mother of the bride attire give each woman the chance to express her personal style. Not only will you look beautiful for your daughter's wedding, you will actually be able to wear a dress that reflects your own unique taste (with the bride's approval, naturally!).

When Did Brides Start Wearing White Wedding Gowns?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Wedding Gowns are in the color white. Were wedding dresses always in white or is this a new occurrence? Do brides have to wear white wedding dresses because wearing another color brings bad luck to the marriage? Tracing back history, women wanted to look wonderful on their wedding day. The rich were able to afford expensive dyes for colors like red, purple and black. Thus, their dresses were of the boldest colors.

They also used furs and dresses were made with precious gems to help the bride stand out from the crowd. Women from well to do families work silks and velvet while the poor girl's dress was made of linen or fine wool. The color of the girl's gown was a determining factor of luck. Pink was believed to be unlucky but good for a May wedding. Green was unpopular because it invited fairies to the ceremony. The color green also believed to call for rain. Blue was preferred because it symbolized purity, fidelity and eternal love.

When a bride wears blue on her wedding day, it was believed to have made their grooms faithful to them throughout their marriage. White symbolized innocence but this was not a popular color choice because in some countries white was the color of mourning. Yellow was once trendy while red was not associated with bridal dresses because they were for scarlet women. Some brides wore gray because they can use their wedding dress on other occasions. Black was not worn in some places because it symbolizes mourning. Wedding dresses came in different colors except black and red.

In the 1800s, a white dress with a veil became fashionable. Royalty wore white in their wedding day. Princess Charlotte wore a white bridal gown in her marriage to Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg. In a few years, Queen Victoria wore a white silk bridal gown. She chose the color so that she could use some lace that she owned and add it to the dress. She made her bridesmaids carry her train. Queen Victoria's dress was used again, during her Diamond Jubilee celebration; she wore it over a black silk gown. This set the trend for women to wear white in their wedding day.

These days, wedding gowns come in different shades from white to eggshell, ivory and ecru. The cut and design of these white gowns also evolved throughout the years. Women wear white to conform to tradition or for lack of other sensible color choices and in the popular belief that white symbolizes purity.

Ideal Gifts to Give the Bride-to-Be

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There are no rules when giving gifts to girls who are about to marry, but giving her a simple gift will surely make her bridal shower more exciting and unforgettable. Couples value your presence more than the gift, so even a simple gift for the bride will mean something very special for them. There are so many bridal gifts to choose from and it would be hard to name all of them for gift givers to choose from.

Wedding showers are the best time to think of economical and practical gifts the couple can use once they start to live in their own homes. Gifts that can be used at home are widely thought of when selecting the best gift for the couple. Wedding showers are the best time to give small home furniture that is why it's important to know the taste of the bride as well. Kitchen tools are a favorite by wedding couples since they will hardly have enough time to shop once they get back to work after the wedding. If you think that kitchen wares are not a good idea, ask the couple's friends and family to be sure that you are not giving anything they already have. There are people you can rely on when giving advice to what the couple really needs and they the bride or groom's parents. The needs of the couple are most important rather than your desire to just give them anything, so try to get their families' tips before buying any gift.

Instead of buying anything from stores for the couple, others tend to give money to the bride and groom to be so the couple can buy their own things. Do give the cash gift instead, if you do not have time to look or shop for items in store prior to the party. Most of the bride and groom are more grateful with gift envelopes since this will help them build the life they have chosen after getting married. After exchanging vows is the reality of needing a lot of things to start a new family together, and money gifts can help the couple set their priorities when buying stuff for themselves. There are already plans made for some couples and the money they will receive will surely help.

You may also buy creative or unique gifts other than the usual home appliances Add fun to the couple's exciting new life by giving them a very creative gift Newly weds appreciate something that is obviously made through hard work and personalization. Give them both a traveling tote if you know they will be leaving after the wedding. You can choose from a wide variety of totes and toiletry bags they both can use when traveling or at work.

Newly weds are more thankful for your presence on their special day rather than your material gifts so do not worry about what you have chosen for them. Cheap or costly gifts are not the basis of how you show affection to the newly wed couples, it is your love and care for them as you guide them to their new life together.

Indian Bride

You are about to get married. You should know the traditional matrimonial rites, and its meaning. Matrimonial rites are performed in the presence of 'Agni' or fire, during the 'muhurath' or auspicious time.

The garlands for the wedding are made with fresh flowers, sanctified. The bride faces east and puts garland on groom's neck first, following the example set by Sita in Ramayana. It is important that the marriage is conducted with the consent of the girl.

The bride and groom, holding hands walk around 'Agni' or fire, seven times from the left, to sanctify the holy matrimony.

The next thing would be tying the 'mangal-soothra' (or thaali maala) around the girl's neck. Gold rings are exchanged, then. The name of the spouse is engraved on the ring, or may be just initials. After the ring exchange, 'sindoor' is put on the bride's forehead by the groom. Then he places a tray full of dress for the bride in her proffered palms. It is known as 'vasthra-daanam'. She accepts the tray respectfully and takes it to her eyes, first to the right eye. It is normally a very expensive saree, with a matching well stitched blouse. Just after 'vasthra-daanam', the girl's father takes the bride's right palm and places it on the right palm of the groom, giving her away symbolically. This is an equally important matrimonial rite, 'kanya-daanam'.

The bride and groom, takes seven rounds around 'agni' and the holy matrimony is solemnized and sanctified.

All the elders of the family go to them and pour blessings on them, by placing both their palms on their head. They, now husband and wife, seek blessings by touching their feet.

Art Deco Inspired Weddings

Image : http://www.flickr.com

One of the most glamorous eras of all time was the Art Deco period in the early Twentieth Century. When you are looking for a style to inspire your wedding design, you couldn't do better than to build your event around the cool sophistication of Art Deco. It is a great choice for a bride and groom who want to have a wedding that is distinctive and elegant.

Art Deco style would be perfect for an evening wedding. The flavor that is associated with Art Deco is swanky, sophisticated, and icy. The design was cool and linear, and often featured elements like repeated lines and mirrored surfaces. If you are looking for a sample of the pinnacle of Deco design, you will find it in the Chrysler Building in New York City.

A good place to start planning your wedding is with the color palette. For an Art Deco feeling, the perfect color is a pale icy blue. Pair it with shades of silver and chrome for a classic Deco look. You can also add in a dark espresso brown for more depth. As an example, picture your tablecloths done in an icy blue with two or three stripes of espresso around the hemline.

Since mirrored surfaces are such an integral part of the Art Deco style, you will want to find ways to use mirrors in your reception décor. One very nice look is to place a mirror in the center of each table under the centerpieces. This technique has the added advantage of making your centerpieces look larger and more impressive. Surround the floral display with candles in cut crystal holders. You could use either tall tapers or low votives.

To really make your theme pop, consider renting chandeliers to decorate your reception venue. Chandeliers from the art deco period were not ornate or flowery. Instead they featured very clean lines. A popular look was rectangles of crystal or mirrors hung vertically in a circle, with several rows to form the whole light fixture.

The bride's ensemble should also fit the Art Deco theme. Forget about big, poufy princess gowns. The look should be slinky, elegant, and very refined. A fabric like silk charmeuse is the perfect example of Deco fashion. It has both the slim lines and the sheen that was characteristic of the era. A charmuese sheath would be a stunning choice for a bridal gown (although it is not the most forgiving style).

The bride will want to find the perfect accessories to complete her look. You do not have to wear estate jewelry, just seek out pieces that have the right flair. Crystal bridal jewelry is perfect because of its clean and icy look. You could even have pieces handcrafted with pale blue crystals, which would look fantastic with a white bridal gown. (And it also covers your "something blue".)

For couples who want a very stylish and sophisticated wedding, the Art Deco look is ideal. It is not a style that you will see at every wedding, which is also nice. The sophisticated and elegant flair of Art Deco design will help you to create an unforgettable wedding.

Wedding Toasts - Tips For the Bride, Groom and Best Man

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Raise a glass - now's the time to toast to the happy couple! Wedding toasts and speeches can sometimes cause anxiety - but don't let them. Enjoy your moment in the limelight, and make the most of these situations with some prep work.

Your best man, maid of honor and other special guests may inquire about appropriate speaking times - so it's good to have an idea beforehand. You and your fiance may also want to prepare some expressions of gratitude for your parents, your guests or each other. Every wedding is different; discuss and layout a general "toasting timeline" before the celebrations begin.

Who Toasts?
Traditionally the best man, maid-of-honor and parents of the bride and groom will say something over the course of events. However, close friends, the bride and groom themselves or anyone who has something to say is welcome to make a toast.

When to Toast?
When to toast all depends on the nature of your wedding. If yours will be a cocktail or buffet-style reception, your guests may not ever be gathered at the same place and time to listen to toasts. Another option is to hold the formal wedding toasts, such as the best man's speech, during the rehearsal dinner instead. At a seated dinner, the father of the bride traditionally toasts to commence the meal. Your caterer can arrange an official champagne toast, passing glasses of champagne to each guest prior to the best man speech or the father of the bride. Toasts can really occur at any time during the reception - between courses, after the meal, during the cake cutting etc. Try to give your event coordinator an estimated timeframe beforehand, so he or she can round up your guests to listen.

How to Respond
Everyone should rise for toasts to the new couple except the bride and groom, who remain seated (unless they already happen to be standing). When someone toasts the bride and groom, they should smile and say thank you. They should not clap or drink to themselves. If a toast addresses the bride only, the groom should rise. If a toast is directed towards the parents or any other guest, both the bride and groom should rise.

When the Newlyweds Toast
This is a wonderful opportunity to publicly recognize your family and friends for their love and support. If the bride and groom make a toast, they should not speak in unison (this sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised. They should instead stand together while one speaks or take turns speaking.

What to Say
Wedding toasts should be light, fun and G-rated. Avoid saying anything you wouldn't say to the bride's grandmother's face. Be succinct. There is nothing more awkward than a rambling, bumbling best man speech - under two minutes is perfect. All speakers should begin by introducing themselves. While toasts should include memories or funny anecdotes, avoid too many inside jokes that exclude the majority of guests. Your jokes will be met with silence if only a few listeners understand! Finally, wedding toasts should mention both the bride and the groom, even if the speaker only knows one or the other. And if the spotlight is on you and you're suddenly at a loss for words, try the old standby, "I'm so happy for you two. Cheers!" It never goes out of style.

How to Say It
It's smart to prepare beforehand, but always try to speak from the heart. Reading from a card seems insincere and awkward.

Do Polish Brides Make Good Wives?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There's no denying that the popularity of international dating is on the rise. Thanks to the World Wide Web, there are no geographical limitations when it comes to choosing a friend, a date, or even a wife. Considering a Poland bride? She's theoretically just a click away.

This article addresses the question you may have as to whether Poland brides make good wives, and if so, why that's the case. As you surely know, women raised in Poland are brought up with issues unique to her country in areas such as history, politics, culture, customs, and beliefs.

Although the role of wife and mother is cherished in Poland, and much value placed on a woman's homemaking skills, you'll find many women in Poland who also work outside the home.

Families in Poland are extremely important, and a high priority is placed on taking care of children. Many Polish women are stay at home moms, since women are considered responsible for the upbringing of the children.

Even if a Polish woman works outside the home, and many do, it's still considered her responsibility to take care of her husband, her children, and the home. They're hard working women, giving completely of themselves at work and then coming home to cook meals and maintain a clean environment for her family.

It may surprise you to learn that Polish women are handy at home, and many are completely capable of making minor repairs with no help at all. They've been brought up to be resourceful, economical, and non-wasteful, so they've learned very well how to repair or repurpose items in order to get the most use possible.

Another issue Poland brides take very seriously is their marriage vows. The major religion in Poland is Catholic and divorce is forbidden by the church. As a result, Polish women almost never divorce.

On those rare occasions that divorce is the only alternative, Polish women hardly ever marry a second time. Their trust has been breached and they're not likely to give their heart to someone else. Poland brides are brought up to be faithful to just one man in their life, so remarrying is seldom a consideration for them.

Many Poland brides are proud of their education, and in many cases, are highly educated, oftentimes exceeding the level of educated males in the country. It's not unusual to find a larger number of females in traditionally 'male' occupations, like architecture, engineering, and university professors.

Polish women have a natural gift in their ability to work outside the home without their family feeling like they're being neglected. It could be due in part to the fact that Poland brides don't mind doing whatever it takes to make their marriages work and keep their husbands happy, without getting caught up in gender roles.

It's entirely possible you'll find yourself a better person after living life with a Poland bride. These women are raised to be loving, giving, generous women, and those traits often rub off on the people closest to them. They love to give back to the community and are considerate and thoughtful of others. All these characteristics make Poland brides warm, well-liked women.

If the thought of a foreign wife appeals to you, learn more about whether or not a Poland bride would appeal to you. They make wonderful partners and once married, will devote herself to making the relationship a happy one as well as providing you with a neat home and hot, home-cooked meals.

International dating can be emotionally rewarding if you choose a site that specializes in connecting people around the world. Some Great But Goofy Bridal Shower Gag Gifts

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Gift giving at bridal showers can sometimes turn into a dull and boring event but it doesn't have to be that way. Many brides appreciate and love something out of the ordinary like a gag gift. It is crucial that you know the person well and also know the other people who will be there so that you don't give a gift that might be deemed inappropriate or crude.

In a time of stress from planning the wedding, most brides will probably appreciate the humor and comic relief that comes from a gag gift. As I mentioned earlier, it is important to know the bride and the other guests since a lot of the gag gifts for brides tend to be sexual or naughty. If you have bought a gift like this and the grandmother who is known for her prudishness shows up, you may want to hold onto it and deliver it in private; she might not ten to appreciate the concept of edible panties!

If you talk to the bride and the person putting on the shower and it is deemed that a gag gift exchange would be acceptable then maybe a gag gift exchange party would go over well. The thing that is so cool about this is that everyone gets to participate and each guest will take a gift home that will make them remember the event. To organize an event like this put instructions on the bridal shower invitations for each guest to bring a wrapped gag gift with them to the party. Count the number of guests and create numbered labels with a number for each guest.

Now, you start the exchange by having each guest pick a number and allow them to choose from any of the gifts that you have stacked in a pile in the middle of the room. The person unwraps the gift and shows it to everybody. The succeeding guests have the option to take a previously opened gift or open a new one. This goes on until the last person has opened a gift, at the end the person who went first has the option to keep the gift they have or take one from any other person in the room. It may be a thoughtful consideration to allow the bride this honor.

There are virtually unlimited gag gift ideas that can be found for the bride to be or the gift exchange. It is almost certain that you can find specialty shops in your area for such gifts and if not the internet certainly has anything you could possibly desire online.

Create A Bride's Garter

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The bid day is coming! That's right, your wedding is approaching. Don't be nervous, everything will fall into place. We've heard it all before: your wedding day is around the corner and you still haven't found the perfect garter. Take a deep breath and relax. You aren't the only bride-to-be who has been in this situation. Fortunately, there are other married women out there who've sat in your seat before. So lend your eyes to this advice: don't choose a wedding garter that is store-bought. We mean it! Unleash your creativity and customize your own bride's garter! Don't roll your eyes, it's actually quite simple.

There's something special to be found when customizing once piece of your wedding attire. No other bride will have a garter like yours. Your wedding garter will be unique in design and can pretty much convey anything you want it to. Whether your garter is elegant, fun, simple, or cute; it should employ your personality. Let your imagination run wild.

A bride who has decided to customize her own garter should immediately measure her thigh. Once she has an accurate measurement, she can start purchasing supplies. First you'll need the elastic, which will be needed for the garter. The elastic should be 2-3 inches shorter than the measurement of the bride's thigh. Next you'll want to start shopping for a fabric. Please note: whatever fabric the bride chooses should be 3 times longer than the elastic. It should also be 4 inches in height.

A word of advice: avoid fabric that may irritate your skin! While lace may look very beautiful, it can certainly drive some women insane! Bear in mind that you'll be dancing and mingling all night long. The last thing you want to feel is discomfort on your special day. Silks and satins are strongly recommended, as you won't even know that they're on your thigh. The goal here is to work with something that you'll feel comfortable wearing. Ideally, you want a garter that you barely know is there.

Now that you've purchased the brides garter items, you can fold the 4" (in height) material you've selected in half. Insert the elastic through the fabric. Stitch the fabric together with a matching color thread. Now that you've finished, you can sew trinkets onto the garter like a charm bracelet. Hearts, flowers, a key to the best-man's apartment (that's a joke!) -- anything light that dangles will do just fine. It makes for excellent presentation. Remember, a brides garter is meant to be fun and quirky. Get creative with your design!

The Philippine Bride, Buyer Beware

Image : http://www.flickr.com

How to not be a victim of Relationship Fraud

It's no secret that the Philippines produces a good number of foreign brides each year to Western men. Many women seek a better life from the poverty and widespread problems there, others are looking for something different, the money.

There are many successful marriages and lasting relationships that come from the exportation of Philippine brides. There are an equal number of women (and men) scamming Westerners out of the hard earned cash. The Internet has made meeting these women easy, and with beautiful brides awaiting, how does one know the relationship is real? Is she who she says she is?

Most relationships today begin on the Internet, or for a few, with a business trip or vacation to the Philippines. Developing a relationship on the Internet raises the risk level considerably. The best way to avoid fraud and scams (mainly advance fee fraud) is to visit the person and see who exactly you're dealing with. Spend some time in her country and get to know her on a real and personal level. With today's professional fraud groups, it can be difficult to know the difference between love and scam.

Avoid sending money and be skeptical of "emergencies". Get to know the person slowly via the Internet, and follow up with phone conversations if the relationship progresses. Be wary of requests for money. And don't be crazy. If you're thinking of marriage, invest in the effort to visit the Philippines before beginning any serious commitment. Lastly, if all looks good and you think you may have found the real thing, get the confidential background check, and sleep well at night!

Be safe and happy hunting,

Great Father of the Groom Toasts For the Rehearsal Dinner

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Traditionally the bride's parents paid for the wedding ceremony and the groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner. If that's how your son's wedding is arranged, you may find yourself needing to open the dinner with a toast. While it may make you nervous, remember that we often don't hear lots about the groom at the wedding. So, it's a great gift for you to talk about this wonderful man who is your son. So, what to say that's enough and not too much? There are a lot of suggestions here, but you want to keep your toast fairly short: the wait staff is waiting to serve and people are hungry. This is often the meal that will start people getting acclimated to the right time zone for the wedding.

Welcome everyone to the meal and the start of this great celebration.

  • Your family may not have gathered for a while, so it's nice to be together again.

  • Offer a particular welcome to the bride's family and look forward to getting to know one another better through the years.

  • Welcome all the family friends on both sides who have traveled to witness this wonderful occasion.

  • And then say hello to all the friends of the bride and groom who have gathered to celebrate their friends.

Say how happy you are that your son has chosen to marry such a wonderful woman.

  • Talk a little bit about the wonderful qualities you've noticed in your son's fiancée.

  • Tell them that you're looking forward to her becoming a member of your family.

Tell them how wonderful your son is and how proud you and his mother are of your son.

  • It's ok to talk just one of your children, because this event is just about him.

  • It's a wonderful time to tell your son that you're proud to be his parents.

Say how much you're looking forward to the entire weekend, their happy marriage and the shared years ahead of you. Hoist your glass, and sit down and enjoy the dinner and your friends, both old and new.

Note: if you and your son's mother are divorced, it's still really important to acknowledge that the two of you brought this wonderful man into the world. There's nothing odder than parents pretending that they have no past together despite fabulous children. At some point the two of you loved one another enough to create this great son. Your ex was there when this child was brought into the world. You can afford to be generous and you might even allow the wedding to move you into a place of greater peace with one another. After all, there may be grandchildren ahead; no one wants to miss birthdays because you can't figure out how to talk to one another. You don't lose anything, ever by being generous. Your new spouses need to figure this out too, because they benefit from peace as well. And it will make all your children sigh with relief as you acknowledge the reality of the family they grew up in.

Bottom Line?: Give your relationship the chance it deserves to succeed wildly, against all odds! After all, you deserve it. Your relationship deserves it! Tips For Petite Brides

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There are many wonderful things about being petite. You are dainty, you have adorable little feet, and you can buy your t-shirts at GapKids. However, when you start shopping for your wedding gown and related accessories, you may find that being petite poses a bit of a problem. With persistence, and a really good seamstress, you will be able to find a gown that fits your frame perfectly.

At 5'1", I found shopping for a bridal gown to be downright hilarious at times. It was hard to imagine if a dress would really look good once a foot of fabric was chopped off from the hem. Even standing on the pedestals at the bridal shop only helped so much. I had loved the look of dresses with a band of satin fabric around the hem until the bridal shop associate lifted it up to show me where it would be once the gown was hemmed for my height - there was practically no skirt left between the waistline and the satin trim! Also strictly off limits were any gowns with beading, embroidery, or lace embellishments on the hemline.

It is not only hemlines that pose a challenge for the petite bride. When trying on the sample dresses in bridal shops, you are likely to find that the waistlines hover somewhere in the vicinity of your knees. If you have a short torso like I do, it looks even sillier. In general, most petite brides will look best in gowns with a natural waist (hitting right at the smallest part of your waist), an empire waist (hitting right under the bust), or a princess seam gown (also known as a fit and flare style, there is no break at the waistline).

For a good fit, look for bridal gowns that can be ordered with custom measurements. Most of the fine designers allow the bridal shop to order a gown with an adjustment to the torso length, and with other specifications as well. Buying a wedding gown is not like buying a shirt or a pair of jeans; if it does not fit your body exactly, it will not look good at all, so it is worth it to do whatever it takes to get it adjusted to your frame.

Another option is to have a seamstress custom make a bridal gown especially for you. It is likely to be a more expensive option up front (and if it is not, be wary of the talent level of the seamstress). However, by the time that you have factored in custom measurements and the standard alterations on top of the price of a designer gown, you may be surprised at how close they are in cost. With a custom gown, you will be assured of a perfect fit.

Once you have found the perfect wedding gown, it is time to accessorize it. The accessories are easier because fit is not an issue, but you still want to pay attention to proportion. It should never look like your wedding jewelry, headpiece, and veil are wearing you instead of the other way around. Custom bridal jewelry is a wonderful option, because you can have bracelets made to fit smaller wrists, necklaces shortened as needed, and earrings made to be just the right length. When created from precious materials like Swarovski crystals, sterling silver, and freshwater pearls, custom bridal jewelry is as affordable as it is fabulous.

Headpieces for petite brides will look best when they are not overwhelming. Consider dainty tiaras, small clips, or hairpins. It may come as a surprise, but a long veil (at least floor length) is often a terrific choice for the petite bride, because it creates a long, uninterrupted line. If you prefer a shorter veil, be cautious about heavy borders that can visually cut you in half. Simpler is usually better.

Even though the process may be a bit more involved, every petite bride can find a wedding gown that is perfect for her style and size. It is all a matter of good proportion. And a petite bride does not have to wear high heels if she doesn't like them - you can always stand on a step above your groom for the pictures!

Wedding Party Gifts For Bridesmaids and the Maid of Honor

Image : http://www.flickr.com

While many may believe that a wedding is all about the bride and groom, it is still important to consider other people who have a great participation in making the special event a success. Among the most important are the bridesmaids and the maid of honor. These ladies serve as your right-hand, and their role is no joke. Aside from playing the role of usherettes to your wedding, before that, they will need to assist you in any possible way they can for the preparation of your big day. With that, these wedding attendants need to be thanked and appreciated by giving them the best gifts. If you really want  to end up with the best choices of presents for your dear friends, you need to consider some important things which are as follows:

Keep the Gifts Simple

Bridesmaids gifts don't need to be incredibly elaborated. You don't have to be a Martha Stewart just for the gifts, but a bit of creativity is a must. Do no not go overboard, instead keep the gifts simple. All of your wedding attendants are probably your family and closest friends, meaning, they already know that your wedding is not the right time for you to really do something beyond for the reason that there are so many things that you need to prioritize first. However, this doesn't mean that you value your bridesmaids and maid of honor less. Simplicity is beauty, as they say. So, why not keep wedding gifts for your attendants as such?

Keep the Gifts within the Budget

Bridesmaids gifts don't need to be expensive as well. Aside from they already know that you have so many things to put on the first line, they also know that you have a lot to pay for. Besides, they won't probably be asking for something lavish in return, so why spend too much? Set a budget for the gifts first and make sure that when you are shopping, everything is kept within the limit. There are so many beautiful things that will attract you, so you should be careful on them.

Keep the Gifts Tasteful

It is a great idea to make the gifts tasteful, especially for the ladies who have been a bridesmaid for couple times. This is where you can get as creative as you want, because the ladies may already received common things that are usually given as bridesmaids gifts. Or, you can simply add an extra surprise, a thoughtful card for example.

Keep the Gifts Personalized

Think of their personal preferences. This is one great way to keep the gifts personalized and really thoughtful and special. If you want the presents personalized, consider the likes and personalities of each bridesmaid. Or, if they have something in common, the better for you can easily decide on the items that you can present to everyone. Personalized bridesmaids gifts come in so many choices to choose from. Today, where almost everything can be personalized, there are lots of things that can be engraved or embroidered with names or initials of your bridesmaids. You can think of giving them personalized tote bags, engraved jewelry gifts, embroidered cosmetic bags, engraved picture frames, personalized shirts or etc.

I am sure that you have read these facts about women who are seeking a western man for marriage or friendship. But how can we classify thousands of women just in a few words?

The scarcity of suitable husbands in Romania has led many marriage-minded Romanian women to explore the possibility of pursuing a Western man.

1. Romanian mail order brides are not character-less toy dolls. She needs what every woman needs: a good husband.

While there is no denial that a substantial number of foreign brides hope to live a better life in a western culture, it is just as legitimate to argue that a fat bank account does not top the list of qualities that these women look for in a man.

What women want is a man who is honest, loyal, sincere, respectful, and able to provide for her children basic needs. The same happens with western women too.

2. A Romanian bride does not harbor the illusion of landing a millionaire for a husband, but instead pins her hopes on finding a man with strength of character, a shared respect for family values, and the financial means to adequately support a family.

Wedding Dresses

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Over the centuries wedding dresses have changed, but a bride has always wanted her dress to be special, to make her look more beautiful. Centuries ago, only the rich could afford materials of red, purple, and true black; therefore, the wealthy brides would wear dresses of color adorned with jewels. The bride would actually glitter in the sunshine. The dress with flowing sleeves or a train was a status symbol, for the poor had to use material as sparingly as possible. Factory-made materials, with their lower costs, caused the lost of the original meaning of the train of a wedding gown, but it became a tradition over time.

Fashions changed from gowns of color to ones of white, or a variation of white, but since it wasn't a practical shade for most purposes, blue became another favorite, as did pink. In the 1800's, gray became a color for wedding gowns for brides of lower classes because the dress became re-used as the bride's Sunday best. For those who had to wear a dress that would be used for regular occasions after the wedding, many brides would decorate the dress for the special day with temporary decorations.

The "traditional" wedding dress as known today didn't appear until the 1800's. By 1800, machine made fabrics and inexpensive muslins made the white dress with a veil the prevailing fashion. By the nineteenth century, a bride wearing her white dress after the wedding was accepted. Re-trimming the dress made it appropriate for many different functions.

As times passed, women's fashions changed. Hems rose and fell, but the long dress, with or without a train, remained the length preferred by brides. Sleeve lengths and neck styles changed with the current fashions, but mainly remained modest. Full sleeves, tight sleeves, sleeveless styles came and went and came again. Simple designs to elaborate have been found over the years.

Today's wedding dress fad appears to be the strapless dress, which looks lovely on some figures. Some brides still want styles of the past.

The main consideration for a bride-to-be is what is appropriate for her to wear. Style should match her figure and her financial means, as well as the setting for the ceremony. For example, a larger framed woman should try on the dresses she likes, and then choose one that flatters her. Every bride wants to look lovelier on that special day. If she has $500 to spend on a dress, then she shouldn't be looking at $5,000 dresses. If the wedding is to be held in a garden, a heavily beaded dress maybe should be avoided.

Appropriateness is the key word as a bride searches for the perfect dress, whether in real life or written into a story. A full length mirror often tells the truth either place.

The Essential Father of the Bride Speech Ideas and Format

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You're the Father of the Bride, you want to make a wonderful speech and sadly you haven't got a clue how to go about it! If that sounds vaguely familiar then you've come to the right place because nearly every other Father of the Bride feels the same way too.

You see, all of us have been to a few weddings over the years and due to varying reasons (probably we'd either just got married, or we were still thinking about food) we've really missed listening to the Father of the Bride Speech let alone studying it's format. So now when it's our turn to deliver one of the most important speeches of our lives we really are clueless. However, don't despair, the knack to writing a great Father of the Bride speech is to have a template, a format that you can follow point by point. In fact, if you think of your speech as a car journey then each point of the format is like a signpost that directs to you to your final destination.

So What's the Best Format to Use?

Introduction

  • Start off by introducing yourself. It sounds pretty obvious but not all the guests know you by sight and it helps to break the ice.

  • Thank everyone for coming, maybe even point out a few far-flung relatives you haven't seen for years, relatives who have made a special effort to attend.

  • Welcome the Groom's family.

  • Mention the ceremony, how special it was, and didn't the person in charge do a great job.

Body of the Speech

  • Memories of the Bride growing up. (The tone of the speech is decided here as it all depends on whether the memories are humorous or heartfelt)

  • How proud you feel of your daughter.

  • How beautiful your daughter looks.

  • What a great choice your daughter has made with the Groom.

  • How happy the Bride and Groom are going to be in the future.

Wrapping it all Up

  • Maybe a nugget of matrimonial advice that's served you well.

  • Wish the Bride and Groom well.

  • The Father of the Bride's Wedding Toast.

And that's about it, feel free to miss some of the points out if they don't exactly match your situation, but the main thing to remember is to make the speech sound as natural as possible and try to enjoy the occasion. Oh and one last thing, once you've written your speech, practice it as much as you can, because the better you know your speech- the better your speech will sound.

Wedding Greeting Quotes

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Saluting people who have just married, have come back form their honeymoon or have just announced their engagement can be quite a challenge. The greeting quotes though should not gall the couple. Although these greetings are actually meant to depict the love that the two now share, it is also a reminder of the responsibilities that the two now share. Although Christians in Ontario are likely to borrow heavily from the Bible while other religious weddings may also see people quoting from their sacred books, the absence of such a privilege need not bog one down. They only need to get creative with words and aim to the message in an appropriate manner.

After their engagement, the prospective bride must react to each other's proposal. The Bride can decide to respond to the groom's request for a hand in marriage by declaring, "For you I will live out my days!" In the same breath the groom on commending on the bride's the bride's acceptance may decide to congratulate her on the feat by calling her, 'my love, my life! However, the couples are likely to have it easier because they are used to swearing their love to each other. In Toronto where weddings are the order of the day, those who want to congratulate the couple on their engagement may be lost for words on what to say thus only making casual remarks. The grooms father may decide to present his regards as a prophecy with a remark such as, "Your action has assured my future because I know that you have found happiness." Other friends are likely to mourn the transformation of a fellow groupie into a marriage setting.

They may thus remark, "Though we know that you have found love, we are sure that you will not forget us." Using wedding greeting quotes after engagement may be as intense as what is expected when the two have already tied the knot. After exchanging the knot, congratulatory messages start flowing in from everywhere depending on their network of friends and family. Most messages flowing in at this point seem to reinforce the vows the two have just taken. Close friends may want to congratulate the couple by chiding them, "Now, at last are full!" It is common practice for the celebrant in Mississauga Christian wedding to quote frequently from the Bible. A favorite statement that the groom is bound to hear once for times on end is, "He who finds a wife finds a good thing". This quote from the Bible will help reinforce the groom's view for his life. In the same vein, it is common to hear the couple reminded, "You are no longer two but one!" this is sometimes done symbolically by the sending of one card to the couple instead of two.

Other wedding greeting quotes will be sourced from quotes made by past great lovers. Most weddings in Canada take place in picturesque venues so the atmosphere may inspire the comments. One congratulation may thus go, "Just as the water flows from the brook, so should your love without ceasing."

Slave Earrings - A Look at a Modern Phenomena

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Consisting of a stud at the ear lobe and a chain which extends to the top of the ear via a cuff or second piercing, Slave earrings are also referred to as multiple-piercing earrings. Designed to carry the look to the other ear while not distracting from it, the second earring in the pair will most always include a plain stub.

Chaining 2 items together was where the notion originated for the term "slave earring". The jewelry by the name of slave anklets and slave bracelets have an attachment similar to the slave earrings where the lobe and ear cartilage are chained together.

"Bajoran earrings" were a nickname attached to a design which appeared on Star Trek and thereby boosted the popularity of the traditional earring that initially became popular during the high point of the punk movement. More heavily layered than those earrings found in the western styles, many traditional Indian brides commonly used slave earrings. Sometimes not directly affixed to the ear, the upper ear piece is many times hung in the space between the head and the ear, although the chain will sometimes extend from the ear to the nose.

As time has gone on, the slave earrings have become more sophisticated, but they continue to rely on chains and studded stones and thus retain some of their punk footings in these modern renditions. The ability to appear extremely feminine when properly attached allows these earrings to worn by anyone. Smaller appearance and fine chains are teamed up with fine gemstones and metals on some of modern styles.

You should initially attach your plainer earrings and then install the earring. Do not cause a tangled chain when you are attaching the lower stud of the slave earrings. You need to carefully pull the second stud up towards the top of your ear cartilage after you pickup the cuff. Pin the stud and hook on the cuff of the earring. Carefully mash the cuff until it is tighter or tighten up the earring stud if it feels a little loose.

You should choose the earring to be the basis for your outfit to create an edgy but feminine appearance. In order to not over crowd the slave earring grouping, do not add any jewelry above the bangles or rings which you might add to increase your jewelry.

You can wear this jewelry with attractive girlie dresses or you can make it an accessory to jeans and a t-shirt. Avoid motorcycle biker bars after you have created this edgy look of putting a bit of hard rock in our styles. Your everyday style can justify some changes to spice things up, but generally, slave earrings can be another alternative to your other fashions.

Modern Day Bridal Gowns

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Bridal gowns, or better known as Bridal dresses, have been the one thing that has not taken on a dramatic change in terms of how weddings have evolved over the last 50 years. They have stayed on course of being the same colour, white. No one has been brave enough to want to tamper with this symbol of purity and it is with that symbolism that we focus on what has changed however, involving wedding dresses.

A dress, is simply a combination of all its pieces brought together-bodice, silhouette, fabric, trim, etc.-and to truly see how beautiful a wedding dress is, you have to look very closely to see the detailing on the dress. However, with the modern day era ushering new trends to a wedding, a wedding dress has taken on some transformation, not a lot mind you, however, changes that are not dramatic, however, ones that are noticeable.

Some of the areas that the changes have been implemented are the Silhouettes. They are narrower, and this trend is done so to make he bride look slimmer and sexier on her wedding day. Another area is the A-line (also known as princess line). This dress remain very popular, because they are slimmer than most, a trend that is very popular. Sheaths with detachable trains are a very traditional dress; however the newer sheaths are designed with part of train make into the silhouette, for a trendier look and feel.

A new style of wedding dress that is gaining in popularity is the bias-cut wedding dress. They have gained interest these dresses are cut in such a way that they hug the contours of the body and ultimately flare out. In regards to necklines, designs such as square and curved necklines have become very trendy as well as v-necks. These neckline designs offer a new look without making the bride look "sleazy and cheap".

As you can tell, wedding dresses continue to maintain their elegance and beauty by simply being what they have always been, a symbol of purity and gracefulness. Wedding dresses were made white to embody the bride as a princess that wants the world to know that be is as beautiful as she is innocent and that the groom that will be lucky enough to spend the rest of his life with his new bride has to understand that the bride should be treated as the dress is indicated, innocently and gracefully.

So in conclusion, wedding dresses are the one thing that have remained the same in a time when it is trendy to have themes at weddings, to match a certain pair of colours to resonate across the entire reach of the wedding ceremony and wedding reception. Wedding dresses are a symbolic measure of purity, elegance, and the fact that the colour white tells everyone that the bride is as beautiful and pure today as ever, the need to change the dynamics of a wedding dress are not needed. It has gone over a certain look the accommodate the bride of today, however the beauty of a wedding dress will remain forever!

A Guide to Unity Symbols

Image : http://www.flickr.com

A marriage is ultimately symbolizes a strong bond being formed between two people. On top of this it also marks the coming together of two families. To celebrate this, some people choose to incorporate special rituals into their wedding ceremony that represent the union. Here is a look at a few commonly used symbols of unity.

Perhaps the most widely used item is a unity candle, the lighting of which is use to signify the matrimonial bond. The bride and the groom will both usually light an individual candle of their own, then holding theirs in one of their hands, use them to simultaneously light a third. Often the mothers from each family will initiate the process by light the candles the bride and groom hold. Sometimes the candles are blown out, but more often than not they will remain lit for the ceremony in its entirety.

Another option may be to use a unity cup. In this case, each family fills it own cup with something, usually red wine, and then the bride and the groom pour half from each cup into a third cup and then each proceed to drink from it. The half empty family cups stand for the uniqueness of each family while the full third cup signifies the marital connection. Again the parents could be involved by filling the family cups to begin with.

A newer tradition is for the groom to deliver a rose to the bride who will bring a vase for it to the ceremony. When the two are combined together it serves as a representation of their unison in marriage.

While these symbols are not a requirement for weddings but they can serve to make your ceremony a more spiritual experience. They can also be an excellent way to involve your family. You might even want to make your own, by drawing from something personal to you such as your culture or heritage.

Creative and Informal Beach Wedding Dress Ideas For the Bride and Groom!

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There are so many fun choices that the bride can make for her beach wedding dresses when the plan is for a casual wedding. The theme sets the style of course, so the first job at hand is to decide if you want to stick to a specific theme, or simply keep it informal and casual on the day.

You can choose to be Gypsies for the day, with lots of velvet and satin. Maybe you fancy being Medieval with buntings and some fair maidens in long gowns and a horse to ride, or you might want to be a Hippie flower child with cheesecloth caftans and beads.

With a truly informal beach wedding dress you could even take the idea of Pam Anderson and wear a swimsuit in the colours you pick for the beach wedding them, and cover it with a sarong, or soft translucent caftan style sheath dress. Even the men can wear caftans over their more informal swimwear that way.

When the ceremony is over, everyone can have a swim to cool off before the reception begins! With all the attention focused on the bride when planning a wedding, it's easy to forget the other half of the happy couple. The groom and his groomsmen also need to be taken care of, especially attire-wise.

So, you are getting married in a few months and you've just chosen a beach theme for your wedding. You also want it to be a casual wedding, something which is not too formal. This calls for an informal beach wedding dress for the bride and groom, especially if you're having the wedding at the beach where practicality is more important than fashion.

So, how do you find the perfect beach wedding attire for men? Well, fortunately for you, it isn't that hard if you follow a few simple pointers.

1) Determine his type. You'll have to find out what style suits the groom. Is he tall? Is he stocky? What about his dress size? Is he a bit wide around the hips? All these questions need to be answered if you're going to find an informal beach wedding dress for the groom. A vest left unbuttoned is a great way to conceal a bit of a pot belly. Or to have a loose shirt left untucked and hanging loose over the trousers.

2) Follow the theme. Naturally, the wedding is beach-themed. However, there can be many variations of that theme. It can be tropical, where the attire should be bright and natural, or it can be nautical, with soft shades of blue and sea-like dresses. However you want the groom's wedding attire to be, you'll have to make sure it fits the theme. If you are choosing a 'flower-power' Hippie theme with beads and flowers the caftan is perfect for the men as well as the women, and are naturally flattering for all body shapes. The men can even be wearing their swimming trunks underneath for ultimate comfort and convenience. For the Tropical Island theme its simple to pick a Hawaiian style bright patterned shirt and comfortable trousers or board shorts worn with simple open sandals.

3) Don't forget to ask his opinion. It's his wedding after all. Asking for his thoughts can give you ideas on how you'll want to dress him up. Finding the perfect informal beach wedding dress won't be worth anything if he doesn't want to wear it on the wedding day. So, make sure there are clear communications between the both of you early on.

In many cases, when you look at the wedding photos of the beach wedding attire for men, you see that the men simply wear trousers with shirt unbuttoned at the neck, sometimes with a vest left open, and sandals without socks. The colors can be sand themed soft linens, or simple black trousers, white shirt and even a bright colored vest in red for example if using a bright theme, or gypsy theme for your informal beach wedding dress.

Father of the Bride Wedding Toasts

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Father of the bride wedding toasts have become an important part of the wedding festivities, and rightfully so. The day a man walks his daughter down the aisle is a huge day in his life. He is in essence giving his daughter to someone else. He is handing over the duty of taking care of her, protecting her and making her happy. After walking her down the aisle he still has a couple duties; the father daughter dance and the father of the bride wedding toast.

Typically the best man gives his speech followed by the maid of honor. At some weddings the microphone is then opened up to guest who would like to make comments, but at others it just goes to the father of the bride. He is supposed to make the final comments of the night before the rest of the festivities begin. This can be a simple "raise your glasses" or a story about watching his little girl grow so quickly and meet the man of her dreams.

Here are some tips for giving father of the bride wedding toasts:

1. Speak to the guests:

Thank all the guests for coming to share this special day with you and your family. Make them feel welcome and part of your family (for those who aren't already).

2. Address your daughter and new son-in-law:

Be courteous to your son-in-law whether you like him or not. You can make a comment about how he better take care of her, but let it be light-hearted and in good spirits. Then have a moment with your daughter where you wish her the best, say you are so happy for or just express your utmost love for her.

3. Tell a story:

Give the guests a little sample of how wonderful your daughter is. Tell a quick story about her, when she was little or just about her growing up through the years. It will be touching for everyone who knows her well and give some insight to those just getting to know her. Plus, it's always sweet when a dad gets sappy.

4. Speak from your heart, always the best recipe for father of the bride wedding toasts:

Just let your heart speak and you'll be fine. The only restriction with this is; don't let anything negative slip out. If you don't like the groom, just avoid the topic of him altogether. Keep things positive. Good luck and have fun!

Become a Top Wedding Planner - Don't Become a Victim of These 5 Deceitful Business Practices

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Wedding planners and other wedding vendors are often targets for unscrupulous business practices.

Here are 5 situations you need to be aware of and avoid:

1) A bride and groom from another country emails you asking you to be their wedding planner

The email tells you they found you on the Internet, were very impressed and want to hire to you to plan their wedding when they move into your area to start a job or go to school. They offer to send you a cashier's check for more than the amount of your fee and ask you to pay another vendor with the extra money. Most people assume that all cashier's checks are good but that is not true. Also, these checks actually could take weeks to clear, beyond the time in which you would need to pay their "vendor." Do not accept cashier's checks and never accept checks with large amounts of extra money that you need to pay to someone else.

2) You get an email or phone call saying you have been voted "The Best Wedding Planner in Your City"

I once received an email telling me I won an award and offering to sell me a $200 plaque to for my office. The company was selling plaques! Another time someone offered to sell me an advertising opportunity in a magazine so I could tell people about the award they gave to me. Do not be tricked by these fake awards.

3) An official-sounding business bureau calls to say people are asking about your business

A representative from a company who says they investigate consumer complaints says someone has inquired about your business, wanting to know if there had been any complaints against you. They, of course, are not able to share the details. But if you want their support against complaints in the future, you can purchase an annual membership for a few hundred dollars.

4) Wedding and event planning schools tell you that you are the perfect candidate

You fill out an online questionnaire to see if you would make a good wedding planner and the school that posts the form tells you that you would be perfect, just sign up for their certification course. You do not need a certification to become a wedding planner. If you decide you want to take an online course, make sure you know what you are getting for your money. Many schools are very expensive and don't offer personal contact, have few training materials, don't have trained instructors and are not available for questions. Ask for references and check the Internet for comments about any schools you are considering before you enroll.

5) An online event referral directory emails you and says people are looking for more information about your business

They say you could be getting referrals but they don't have full information about your business so they are turning people away. In order to get a referrals and a full listing, you need to become a paying member of their site.

If you get requests from potential clients that sound unusual or are offered business opportunities that ask you for money, do some research before you proceed. Check the Internet to see if others have encountered similar situations. Also, always trust your gut. If you feel the offer could be dishonest, it probably is.
