Amazing Ensembles for Mothers of the Bride

Image : http://www.flickr.com

On her daughter's big day, a mother of the bride often wants to wear something to celebrate and feel special without upstaging the bride. Choosing a mother of the bride outfit can be a way for the bride to thank her mother for everything by allowing her to stand out in a sophisticated way. It is popular for the mother of the bride to wear a dress or gown to the wedding either matching the bridal party colors but in a different look, or in a coordinating color that allows her to shine by herself. The only general rule is that white, cream, or black colored ensembles are ruled out unless the bridal party is wearing the color as well.

One Shoulder Sueded Charmeuse Side Drape Dress

A one shoulder sueded charmeuse side drape dress is a glamorous look for any mother. The elegant off-one-shoulder neckline will have any mother feeling as special as a celebrity. The neckline cascades across from one shoulder to hang dramatically off the other shoulder. The slight draping on the side of the dress provides a slimming effect, while the fabric itself supports the look of a smooth silhouette. This gold gown is elegant and regal.

One Shoulder Taffeta Ball Gown

There are other one shoulder options with a more traditional fit. The one shoulder taffeta ball gown has a traditionally one strap neckline, with an A-line silhouette that is both classic and flattering to all figures. Side-draping slims the body and hides any flaws in this iridescent plum gown.

Shantung Short Sleeve Portrait Collar Dress

Mothers may desire to opt for a tea length dress, especially if the wedding has an outdoor ceremony or reception. The Shantung short sleeve portrait collar dress is an elegant and sophisticated shorter choice for mothers. The portrait collar frames the shoulders and neck, while the wrap bow flatters the waist. An A-line silhouette ensures that all figures will be complemented. The rich color choices of teal and chocolate brown are perfect for an autumn or nighttime wedding.

Stretch Shimmer Cocktail Dress with Bolero Jacket

Depending on the season, some mothers may wish to have their shoulders covered. Boleros can be bought in many different shades and sleeve lengths to coordinate with any dress. Some dresses also come with a matching bolero for precisely that reason. A royal blue stretch shimmer cocktail dress is instantly made more glamorous with the addition of a matching three quarter sleeve jacket.

Shantung Short Bolero Jacket Dress

The Shantung short bolero jacket dress is another example. This silver or eggplant dress shimmers and shines, thanks to the elegant Shantung fabric. The nearly knee length dress features a classic tank style with ruching around the waist, as well as the trendy addition of pockets on the gown. The matching bolero jacket is functional and decorative, with romantic ruffles around the neckline.

A Three Piece Jersey Suit

Pants or suits are also popular for mothers of the bride, especially for weddings taking place in cooler months and climates. A three piece jersey suit allows for many options of versatility. This black suit comes with a beaded tunic top, a loose jacket, and pants. Jersey material is comfortable and fashionable for a night of dancing.

Mothers could add color to the ensemble with a sash around the waist, or by accessorizing with bold shoes and jewelry. A splash of color would be a good way to incorporate the wedding colors into the outfit, while breaking up the sometimes wedding-taboo black color. The true beauty of this ensemble is that it can be worn time and time again by the mother, all together or even simply making use of the separate pieces.

Whether she wants to coordinate with your wedding colors, or stand out from the crowd, mothers of the bride can be reassured that there is an abundance of flattering ensembles she can wear on the wedding day. Leaving stuffy shoulder pads behind, modern mother of the bride ensembles are elegant and stylish. Mothers can wear these ensembles time and time again, always fondly remembering watching and sharing the moment with her daughter on the happiest day of her life.Elegant styles will have the mother of the bride feeling radiant while she watches her daughter marry. For years to come, these ensembles will be remembered and admired in pictures of the new couple's special night. Every mother of the bride can feel cherished and loved in these outfits - simply don't forget to bring tissues for her, just in case.

Nice Things to Do For Brides

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Being a bride-to-be is a magical time in a woman's life. It can be an even more special and meaningful time if the people in her life take a moment to do something nice for her. Whether you are looking for a small idea to brighten her day or a grand gesture to take her breath away, here are some suggestions for nice things to do for brides.

The type of nice thing that you can do for the bride in your life will depend on who she is to you. For instance, if you are a co-worker of the bride, you could offer to cover her desk for an hour one afternoon so she can run out to a meeting with the caterer. Or if you see a funny cartoon in the New Yorker about weddings, clip it out and tape it to her computer to start her day off with a smile. These are small gestures that will go a long way towards bringing a smile to the face of a frazzled bride.

There are plenty of sweet things that the bride's friends can do for her. Time is one thing that almost all women in the midst of planning a wedding find to be in short supply. The bride's friends could help to put some more hours back in her day by taking on the occasional task for her. Perhaps you could run down to the stationery store and pick up the invitations for her. Or maybe you could go online and do some research on the best honeymoon resorts in her favorite destination. These are kind things that you can do for a friend that will not cost you more than a little bit of your time.

Speaking of time, time spent with good friends is something that any bride would appreciate. Maybe you could carve out an afternoon to meet with prospective florists with her (something the groom probably is not volunteering to help with). Or perhaps you could show up on her door with a new dvd, a bag of popcorn, and a bottle of wine. A trip to the local nail salon for pedicures is always a fun thing that girlfriends can do together, or maybe you would like to get together for brunch on a Sunday morning.

The groom can also do quite a few nice things for his future wife, some of which may be expensive, and others which are free. The number one thing that you can do is to lend her your ear. You may find the minutia of wedding planning to be deathly dull, but she doesn't have to know that. Even if you would rather be doing something else, give her your undivided attention for a few minutes a day to go over all that wedding stuff. It will really make her feel like you care about the wedding, and by extension, about your relationship.

Of course, there are many other sweet ways that the groom can brighten his bride's day. Surprise her with a gift, like a set of bridal jewelry, when she is least expecting it. You can cook her a romantic dinner and present the bridal jewelry with dessert. There is nothing better than doing something special for someone for no reason except to say, "I love you".

Planning a wedding can be a taxing job, and a few kind gestures from her family and friends will go a long way towards helping the bride to relax. It is a memorable time, and the little things that you do for the bride in your life will become a cherished part of her wedding memories. And isn't that what being a friend is all about?

Mail Order Bride FAQ

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Mail order brides are a recent phenomenon and a lot of people may be unaware of the intricacies involved in this system. It is essential that all details related to mail order brides be obtained before registering with a mail order bride agency. For this purpose, many of the mail order bride agencies provide dedicated Web pages that serve as mail order bride FAQs. This enables people to understand the concept better and even be aware of issues that they may have never thought of earlier. The Web page answers all questions relating to laws, visas, and other common concerns. In other words, they provide all the required information that men need to know before they go in search of the perfect overseas woman. People have viewed the concept of mail order bride differently. Some prospective grooms may think the concept is a practical option while some others may not have such a positive view.

For different people, questions pertaining to the service may vary. Many web sites provide general information regarding their services and costs. However, for those people who want complete information, these companies arrange meetings wherein all queries can be answered. On a more practical note, for some people, questions concerning the mail order bride system may be of importance whereas for others, it would be about first meetings with their prospective brides. There are still others for whom FAQs regarding immigration issues, monetary commitments and linguistic barriers may be important. Interested individuals may enroll when they are satisfied that they have received all the information they wanted.

It is equally essential to have all the information about other terms and conditions that pertain to the mail order bride system. Different agencies may have different rules. Particulars regarding divorce also need to be obtained to avoid any additional monetary commitments that could arise at a later date. Another important query that generally arises is the mode of contact between the bride and the groom. Some agencies arrange for a telephonic conversation while others suggest a face-to-face conversation. It is extremely important that people interested in mail order brides, get in touch with the right people to obtain all the necessary details. Mother of Bride Wedding Speech Guidelines - What Brilliant Wedding Speeches Are Composed Of!

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Have you ever thought about what a really brilliant mother of bride wedding speech should be made up of? You can't escape the fact that you will be speaking for your daughter's wedding. Your daughter is posed to start out a different chapter of her life, a chapter where she has to responsibly and dutifully experience. You know that you will be invited to talk during the wedding program, to mention some things about a mother's contributions to the bride's younger days, definitive moments and well-rounded growth.

The feeling that you have shared yourself, that feeling of being blissful and pride for your beloved daughter - this is what can motivate you to write and present your own great wedding speech!

Why do you suppose you are giving time and energy to be able to come up with a mother of bride wedding speech which is substantive and also entertaining?

You are aware for sure that this is no contest within which you'll be expecting a reward as the best wedding speaker. All the same, you still want to present a motherly message which will become unforgettable for the audience, as an expression of how you treasure people special to you! We share the same sentiments about this matter. And for that reason, I'm sure you'll see that the points I am sharing in this article will help you in different ways to compose your mother of bride speech and toast:

Guidelines to Composing Brilliant Mother of Bride Wedding Speeches

  • We have a saying that goes, "Great things start from small steps." Develop several drafts of your speech. And then, you'll have some things to polish up to become your final message.

  • When you write your drafts, always think about three parts of your message - the introduction, the body, and ending part. This way, you will know if you are on the right track, and easily determine what you may miss out on.

  • It is also very crucial that you set all these components of your message under one single theme. Because you are using a theme, you do not have to worry much about linking details of your speech to one another.

  • It is not that difficult to have an entertaining speech. To throw in some humor, try recalling a funny story involving your daughter, or what you've known about your daughter's groom or about both of them. However, if you suppose it may embarrass the new couple, I immediately conclude that you are correct - and don't ever tell such story anymore.

  • Now let's go to putting in some feelings. For mothers of brides-to-be, this may be the easy part. Just say what you mean. You don't have to pay much attention to putting emotions for your true intention is to convey a message. All the emotions will carry through in manners you may not even expect.

  • A carefully chosen love quotation will surely help you in keeping your speech meaningful. The quotation should be something which sums up the relationship or experiences of the newly-weds. Or, this may closely be related to what you intend them to learn about marital life, about what they can expect when they start making a family of their own.

Now, maybe you are thinking, "How am I supposed to write a mother of bride wedding speech such as this?"

"Bride Wars" - The Fashion!

Image : http://www.flickr.com

One of the most eagerly anticipated movies for brides-to-be and indeed, women of all ages, is the film Bride Wars, starring Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson. Just like a real wedding, the first thing that everyone wonders is, "What will the bride be wearing?" The fashion in this movie is double the fun because you have two times the brides.

When the two best friends in Bride Wars, Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) become engaged at the same time, their supportive friendship devolves into an ugly competition that tears them apart. Gentle Emma is a people-pleaser who is often run over by others with more forceful personalities, including her dear friend Liv. As a special surprise for her mother, Emma decides to wear her mom's wedding dress instead of buying the Vera Wang that catches her eye.

When Emma passes over the Vera Wang gown, Liv snaps it right up. It was a frothy fantastic creation, that many real life brides will no doubt be looking to find for their own weddings. The gown was strapless with a sweetheart neckline. The bodice is covered with a white lace, and the gown is a customized version of one from Vera Wang's 2009 bridal collection. The real focal point of the gown is the enormous tulle skirt which falls from a basque waistline. In addition, the gown has a lavender ribbon tied into a bow at the natural waist, with long tails falling over the skirt.

Liv finished off her Wang creation with a full veil worn on the top of her head. Her bridal jewelry was simple and classic: a pair of pearl drop earrings. The character's pearl bridal jewelry was from Tiffany, but brides without a movie star budget can get the same stunning look with a pair of Swarovski crystal and pearl drop earrings. Take my advice, and add a classic pearl necklace to the ensemble; strapless gowns always look better when worn with a necklace, in my opinion.

Emma's dress was supposed to be her mother's vintage gown, although in actuality it was also designed by Vera Wang. Her gown was a beautiful ivory off-the-shoulder style with an assymetrically draped neckline. The gown is fitted to the knees and then flares out into a fuller skirt. The style was stunning on Anne Hathaway's tall and slender frame. I actually thought it was more flattering on her than the tulle gown was on Kate Hudson - there was something about the basque waist that did not work for her. Brides looking for Emma's gown will have a harder time finding it, as it was from a 2005 Vera Wang collection. No doubt there will be other designers creating replicas in the near future, for brides who have their heart set on that bridal gown.

In keeping with the more simple style of the character, Emma's accessories were fairly low-key. She wore a long plain veil that was attached at the back of her head (so no pouf on the top). Her earrings were tiny studs (they could have stood to be larger, frankly), and a diamond line bracelet. The fact that Emma wore a bracelet helped to balance out for the lack of a necklace. The only other accessory that she wore was the most important one of all: a blue flower hairpin that she and Liv had found when they were girls peeking at a wedding at the Plaza Hotel. It was the special treasure that started their obsession with weddings in general, and the Plaza in particular. Not to give too much away, but in the end, it was Liv who got to wear the blue hairpin as she exchanged her vows.

Fashion is important to brides everywhere, just as it was in Bride Wars. The movie has an important lesson, though, that all brides would be wise to heed, and that is that friendship matters even more than fashion or externals. In the end, who stands beside you at your wedding matters more than anything else.

Fashion Etiquette For Mother of the Bride/Groom

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The traditional fashion etiquette for ladies attending a wedding is that the Bride is supposed to be the best dressed. Right behind her are the Mothers of the Bride and Groom. But you must remember that this tradition began many years ago, before the general public had easy access to beautiful fashions, before it became customary to buy a new special dress for just about any occasion.

It used to be that ladies would attend a wedding in whatever nice dress they had and had worn before, and only the Bride, the Mother of the Bride and the Mother of the Groom would splurge on new, fancy outfits. The possibility that another lady in attendance would upstage the primary 3 ladies was remote, and because weddings have centered on the Bride for time immemorial, the Mother of the Groom was expected to defer to the Bride's Mother, and most of the time she did.

This is more or less how the whole tradition got started, and it's maintained itself to the present day. But, it is very difficult to follow this guideline with off-the-rack dresses for the Mothers of the Bride and Groom, due to the current custom of ladies taking every opportunity to dress nice, and in a new outfit--at least as far as weddings are concerned.

With so many of the other ladies getting dressed up for the occasion, about the only way left for the Mothers of the Bride and Groom to stand out from the crowd is to order a custom outfit from someone qualified to do 2 vitally important things. First, to design the outfit and craft it properly so that it both fits and flatters. And second, to be sure that the style and color chosen is a style and a color that will flatter the wearer, rather than clash with her.

Solving these 2 problems for you is one of our specialties.

But this happy occasion is also a milestone, a major accomplishment in the life of both the mother and the father of the bride or groom.

For you it's the culmination of the love you had when you were younger, of the goals you set out to achieve together, and of the accomplishment of one of the most precious goals in all of life--the beginning of the process that brings you your grand children. And WOW, YOU did it!

As the mother and father of the bride or groom you took everything that life threw at you. You ate it up and spit it out. You brought a beautiful young baby from girlhood to blushing bride, from boyhood to manhood, and you did it together, and you did it with love.

This may be your child's wedding day, but it's much more to you and your husband. It's a day you celebrate what your own love created so many years ago, and on a day like this, it's only natural for you to remind your husband how strong his desire for you was all those years ago.

How do you do that? You find the perfect outfit, an outfit that breaks through the familiarity you've grown accustomed to with your husband, an outfit that sends him flashbacks of the times you had when you were younger. An outfit that projects to your guests the joy and happiness you are feeling as they celebrate your child's wedding with you.

For this kind of moment, the outrageous stylings from today's department stores simply won't do. For this special event, what's called for is the look of Classic Elegance. A look that consists of a little bit of romance, a little bit of formality, and a little bit of decorum. When you stand at the receiving line, you will project confidence and elegance.

This is the style of mother of the bride or groom outfits we've been creating in my shop since 1971, a style that will never go out of style. A style that says, "WE did it, celebrate with us, but know this too--our life isn't over yet, not by a long shot."

Our mothers of the bride or groom outfits start at $900.00, and go up from there. Your imagination is the only limit when it comes to a maximum price, but most of our customers get the outfit they want at the minimum price, or slightly more. It will all depend on how conservative or how showy you want to be--the decision is all yours. Showy is more expensive, but we can help you with the right recommendations to keep the cost down, if budgeting is a consideration.

If budgeting is not a consideration, and you want to indulge yourself and splurge for one of the biggest days of your life, we can create for you the outfit of your dreams.

Wedding Invitation Wording Samples to Use When the Bride and Groom Are Inviting

Image : http://www.flickr.com

One of the most important steps in the process of ordering your wedding invitations is writing the wedding invitation wording.

Formal wedding invitations should follow proper wedding invitation etiquette. All invites, whether formal, casual or traditional or non-traditional should include the following:

* Bride's and Groom's full names (including middle names for formal invites)
* Day and date of the wedding
* The year should be written out on the next line following the date
* Time of the wedding
* Location of the wedding (formal wedding invitations usually just include the name of the church or building, while less formal or casual wedding invitations might also include the street address)
* City and State (do not include zip code)

Those are the essentials, the things that you absolutely MUST include in your wedding invitation wording. Other than that, you can be very creative with the rest of the wording. If you are having a non-traditional wedding, do not feel like you must follow all of the rules of etiquette. You can add a favorite poem, scripture or verse. Or you could write something to reflect your own personal story of how you met and why you are getting married. You could even use a verse that relates to the season in which you are getting married.

Some other things you must think about when writing your wedding invitation wording are things like:

* Who is doing the inviting. (Bride's parents, Bride's and Groom's parents, Bride and Groom, Children of Bride and Groom, etc.)
* If the Bride's or Groom's parents are deceased
* If the Bride's or Groom's parents are divorced
* If it is a second (or third or fourth) marriage
* If the wedding is being held in a Church or at a Home or other non-church location

Here are some samples of wedding invitation wording where the Bride and Groom are doing the inviting:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Again, these are just samples of wedding invitation wording. Brides and grooms can get creative and create their own unique wording for their wedding invitation. But these are the basics. If the wedding is more casual, rather than formal, the wording on the wedding invitation can be more casual as well and does not necessarily have to follow all of the proper wedding invitation etiquette rules. One thing to keep in mind though, is that most people are constantly in a hurry and tend to skim whatever they are reading. So, you might want to keep your wording fairly basic.

Tip: Make sure to get someone who has never seen your wedding invitation before to proof read the final copy. They will often find errors which you have missed because you have become too familiar with the wording. Ask them to check the date with a calendar to make sure the date is correct. They should also check for spelling errors as well as grammar. Have them read it out loud to see if everything flows and makes sense.

Tattooed Bridesmaid - Are Visible Tattoos Wedding Appropriate?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It's wedding season again; I blinked my eyes and now it's here. Over the past few wedding seasons, wedding forum questions related to visible tattoos on bridesmaids have increased significantly. Many of the forum questions were from either: a) the concerned bridesmaid, wondering if she should cover her own tattoos during the wedding or b) the bride desperately wanting her bridesmaids' tattoos concealed.

Whether you are in the shoes of A or B, you are not alone. According to a January 2008 Harris Interactive Poll, 32% of U.S. adults age 25-29 have at least one tattoo. With the average age of a first marriage in the U.S around 25-28 years of age, a visible tattoo may be affecting the dynamics of your upcoming wedding.

You are the bridesmaid

If you are the concerned bridesmaid, it's fantastic that you are open to concealing your tattoo for your friend's wedding day. Horror stories abound illustrating passive aggressive brides who never speak directly to the bridesmaid about covering visible tattoos, yet simply opt to air brush the tattoos out of the wedding photos. Imagine what the bridesmaid must think when she finds herself staring at unrecognizable photos of herself right after the wedding.

The best way to gauge the bride's opinion regarding your tattoo is to ask her. Open up the dialogue, ask what the bride's preference is and be open to what she says. Tattoos are every bit a part of you and the bride definitely understands what your ink represents. But, for this one day, turn the conversation to what your friendship represents and how you would do anything for the bride; the friend you are seeing off into marriage.

You are the bride

Quite possibly you are the the bride-to-be, distressing over your maid-of-honor's sleeve tattoo ruining your wedding photos. Relax, you can handle the no-tattoo chat with your friend; if you have a tactful plan:

1) Be fair. Think about your wedding party, are you going to ask all of the members to cover their tattoos too? Better yet, are you covering your own tattoos? If yes, carry on. If no, think about why you are asking your friend to cover her tattoo. Is there something within the tattoo that specifically offends you? Possibly a topless Betty Paige? If you are not going to ask the other members of the bridal party to cover up, then you need to tactfully convey your message to the bridesmaid in question.

2) Tell your bridesmaid that you know how important the tattoo is to her.

3) Come up with a plan. Will a shawl cover the tattoo for the wedding? Or will you purchase a tattoo cover up product such as Tattoo Camo (tattoocamo.com)? With either option, go online and take care of the purchase for your friend. We learned about Tattoo Camo through a study conducted by Joan Kneller, a woman embarking on her 2nd marriage with her ex husband's name still tattooed on her shoulder! You can read all about Joan's experience at tattoomakeup.org.

How to conceal tattoos with cover up

How do you cover up a tattoo with make-up? The make-up experts recommend that you purchase two shades of tattoo makeup, one lighter and one a tad darker than your skin tone. Start with the darker shade and briefly go over the bulk of the tattoo, then take the lighter shade and blend into the darker. Set with powder and you are good to go.

Fashion For Mother of Bride

Image : http://www.flickr.com

A wedding is a very happy and happening occasion for everyone in the house. While the bride gets finicky about every detail from her dress to the dining table cloth, she mostly gets everyone's attention. So while the other members are helping out with the wedding, the mother and the father of the bride are mostly given secondary importance only to realise it on the wedding day.

While the father of the bride can don a suit or a sherwani he can plan his attire quite fast. But it is not that simple for the mother, as she has to get her fittings and the finesse. Don't worry you will not out-do your daughter, so get that fright out of your mind. Flip though some books from your stylist or get them off the shelf. You don't have to get the exact design. But you should be able to gauge what you want. A dress, skirt and blouse, trousers, suit or a gown.

A-line cut always flatter any figure. If you are on the heavy side then use bias cuts. This will cut your flaws and accentuate your assets. Use thick silk or sheath, or even brocades. Stay away from georgettes or skimpy materials that need lining.

If you are taller then avoid umbrella cuts and use deeper cuts to accentuate your height. Getting the skirt or the neck of the top emblazoned with sequins, studs and embroidery brings in class and beauty. And do all this you need to give the seamstress some time. So plan well in advance so that you get your dress easily and there is no haste about your dress.

Also the choice of colour is very important. That you are the lady of the house and the mother of the bride do not go in for bright dark colours. Like red, yellow, orange and other bright gaudy colours. Choose subtle shades; if you are dark then go for pista green, lemon yellow, gold, reddish pink or any other soft shade. If you are fair then you can try dark shades with shimmer and glitter. If you are in-between then do not go for too soft or too dark shades and mix it well with another colour.

Do not forget your accessories, they are very important. Right from what you put in your hair to the nail paint on your toe. So collect your stuff well in advance to look your best for one of the most important days in your life.
