Remember the following points are a guideline based on tradition. These are not always possible and therefore vary according to family circumstance.
BRIDE AND GROOM
Confer with clergymen and plan wedding service, draw up and send out invitations, engage photographer, make honey moon plans
BRIDE
Organises decor in church and reception venues, engages caterer and florist, chooses bridesmaids outfit, pays for grooms wedding ring and gift, bridesmaids gift, personal stationery, hairdresser, make-up, manicure & going away outfit
GROOM
Pays for Brides engagement and wedding rings, gifts, bouquets, corsages, buttonholes for bride and bridal party, marriage license, legal expenses and ceremony, liquor at reception, flowers for the bride and attendants, organises own transport, replies to toast to couple, makes honeymoon reservations, purchases any travel tickets
PARENTS OF BRIDE
Assist with arranging and paying for Brides gown and accessories, flowers for Church and reception, invitations, catering, reception venue, wedding cake, transport for bride, photography and music
MOTHER OF THE BRIDE
Organises reception, leaves for church before bride, is the last person to be seated at the church
FATHER OF THE BRIDE
Provides reception, escorts bride to church, leads her up the aisle on right arm, stands on her left to give her away, replies to toast to parents
PARENTS OF GROOM
Pay for Bachelor party
BEST MAN
Organises bachelor party, ensures grooms arrival at church on time,
Pays ceremony expenses for groom, own attire, takes care of peoples luggage in going away car, stands on grooms' right side and presents ring.
Witnesses signing of register in vestry, may organise photographs, cutting of cake, and introduce speakers, proposes toast to bridesmaid, reads telegrams from those unable to attend, returns grooms suit
BRIDESMAID
Arranges kitchen tea, pays for gown, helps with table seating, place cards, decor, gift suggestions, helps bride to dress in gown and going away outfit, stands behind bride to her left and holds her bouquet during ceremony, adjusts head piece, rearranges train. Tidies gown for photo sessions, supervises flower girls, serves cake slices, ensures wedding gifts delivered to reception venue are taken to couples home and gown is safely stored.
