Unique Wedding Centerpieces For The Budget-Minded Bride

Traditionally, the centerpieces at wedding receptions have consisted of an elaborate floral arrangement. In recent years, however, many brides have found ways to create more unique wedding centerpieces - and at considerably less expense. If your wedding has a theme of any sort, such as Asian, it might be easy to decide upon unique, themed centerpieces. If, however, your wedding is more traditional, and has only colors that need to be carried through as a theme, here are a few creative wedding centerpiece ideas to help you do this beautifully and economically.

One option is to use large, clear glass bowls, filled with water dyed in shades of your wedding colors. In them, float lit, white, flower-shaped candles, creating a beautiful contrast. Another take on this idea would be to fill the bowls with colored glass pebbles, or even genuine polished stones, which are available in the floral section of most craft stores. Match the colors to your wedding, and place an item such as a candle, or even pieces of bamboo or silk flowers for contrast.

Slightly higher-budget options, such as clusters of color-coordinated pillar candles set on beveled mirrors are always lovely, and can add quite a bit to ambiance if used at an evening reception. Woven baskets in a range of sizes can be bought or painted to match your wedding colors, and filled with favors for your guests. Love poems printed on parchment and tied with an appropriate color of ribbon are one option.

Either of these containers (glass bowls or baskets) lend themselves to numerous variations. If you plan to utilize assigned seating, you could create personalized ornaments with each guest's name on them, and artfully heap those in the container. Sorting through these would give guests a great opportunity to get to know one another, as well as passing the time spent waiting for the happy couple to arrive. Other filler ideas include seashells, Christmas lights, Christmas ornaments, candies or even origami flowers!

You know that tulle is often used to make chair bows and wrap wedding favors, but did you know it can also be your friend when creating unique wedding centerpieces? Since tulle is available in a wide range of colors, it can be scrunched and heaped in the center of the table to form a soft, gauzy, color-matched bedding for your chosen ornaments. A handful of confetti makes an especially festive addition to this type of centerpiece. This is a great idea for oblong or oddly-shaped tables, as the tulle can be mounded into any shape imaginable.

Any of these unique wedding centerpieces will make a beautiful and elegantly set table for your guests. You can also rest assured that these centerpieces won't wilt, no matter what the temperature! Whether you use one of these ideas outright, or just use them as a springboard for your own creativity, you will surely create a memorable experience for everyone in attendance.
