My daughter's wedding is this July, when should I have a facelift to look my best?

Now! Modern facelift techniques have a relatively short recovery period. Most patients are out and about in six to seven days after surgery. However, the initial swelling and healing period following the surgery lasts for about 6 to 8 weeks. So by having the surgery in May, you should look great in time for the wedding in July.

It is important to remember a couple things. First of all, as mother of the bride, there is often significant stress involved in helping to plan a family wedding.

Complications can and do occur and these problems following surgery might prolong the initial healing period. Perhaps an added level of anxiety might persist with an undue focus on the need to heal too quickly. This might contribute to added stress in this particular situation, if recovery has not been completed in time for the wedding. Adequate preparation time for surgery and recovery helps to alleviate any last minute uneasiness.

Secondly, it is your responsibility to follow before and after instructions carefully for facelift surgery. A smooth recovery often rests on patients following doctor's orders following surgery. The detailed instructions that I give to my patients are designed to reduce the risks of complications and offer the best insurance for a speedy recovery.

Finally, completing facelift surgery at least 6 to 8 weeks before any big event, such as a wedding, will enable you to look and feel your best. Allowing plenty of time for recovery assures a natural and rejuvenated look for the wedding. My guess is that you are going to look great in all the family photographs!

Wedding speeches can make or break the mood of a wedding. Everyone enjoys the praise, jokes and tasteful jokes that are spoken at these events, except for maybe the groom, who is often the subject of most of the jokes. But that aside, speaking is also one of the hardest things to do well. This article focuses on wedding toasts specifically.

But what is a wedding toast?

A best man toast is someone or something in honor of which people usually have a drink, sometimes following the clinging of glasses together.For example, In a wedding, the bride and groom would be considered to be "the toast of the evening", for whom someone "proposes a toast" to congratulate and for whom the wedding guests "toast" in agreement. It is often thought of as a western culture type event to "Have a drink to..." with reference to a person or event in which to have a drink in celebration of. The toast is simply an extension of this cultural habit.

It is generally accepted that the practice of toasting first originated in Greece, at a time when fear of poisoning was a significant concern to the people. So to put guests at ease, the host would pour the guests' wine from a common decanter, take the first drink to demonstrate its safety, then raise his cup to the guests and invite them to drink in good health.

The word 'toast' became associated with the custom in the 17th century, based on a custom of flavoring drinks with spiced Toast. The word originally referred to the lady in whose honor the drink was proposed, her name being seen as figuratively flavoring the drink.

Now, it is often customary to have a number of toasts throughout an evening.

From an audience's point of view, there's nothing more boring, or laborious than doing the same toast over and over again. We watch television for entertainment and stimulus of our senses, and public speaking is a form of entertainment for the audience, so lets explore a range of toasts to help spice up your speech and keep it original. And again, I highly recommend having at least two different toasts memorized for your wedding speech, just in case your original toast is already used in a previous speech or toast.

They generally follow a brief speech or words about the bride and groom, or bridesmaids. It is also too often spoken, the most unoriginal toast is the only toast in the evening. That is, the words Here's to the bride and groom.

Wedding Colour Themes For Spring and Summer Brides

Once the proposal has been accepted, the dress ordered, the invitations sent and the venue booked, it's time to start thinking about the main colour themes that will be running through the big event. No doubt, your handsome groom has some ideas of which colours he would rather not wear and equally you need to consider what will look good on your bridesmaids. Choosing bridesmaid outfits is more difficult if you have a range of ages, shapes, sizes and hair colour amongst them, which is the case in most bridal parties. Another important consideration is what colours are in the room where the reception will take place.

There is no real reason why you cannot have any colour at any time of year once you have considered all the aforementioned factors, although if we are going to be pedantic about it you should really choose a seasonal colour theme. In other words, go for pinks, light greens, light golds and lilacs in the Spring/Summer and keep browns, creams, reds, and dark golds for the colder months.

Lilacs and hyacinths are always the winners if you are marrying in the Spring or Summer; they have been the most popular bridesmaid dress colours for over 10 years and are still up there as one of the most common colour ways. Don't let this put you off though, in fact, use it to your advantage as it proves that lilac colour themes have been tried, tested, look great, come out great in photographs and suit most people. What more proof do you need? You can make your big day feel more modern by ensuring floral arrangements are fresh and funky. Why not scatter tables with real lilac coloured rose petals and introduce lilac butterflies to your theme? Decorate place cards and napkins with lilac and silver butterflies, scatter them on the tables, incorporate them in lavender and hydrangea floral arrangements and put them on your wedding cake. These days, lilacs are very much en vogue and - although have a traditional feel - they need not be stayed, stale or old fashioned.

Candy pink generally looks great on all age bridesmaids and those with all hair and skin colours. Equally, pink will look great on the male members of the bridal party, if you can convince them! One of the more modern colour themes to make an appearance this year has been the explosion of greens and yellows. These look absolutely fantastic and depending on how daring you are, will determine how mad you go. If you are going for a simple, calm wedding, why not go for sage green bridesmaids? These will look fabulous when teamed with white and pale gold accessories and flowers. If you are more adventurous go for a tropical yellow and continue the theme with sunflowers and citrus coloured gerbera or for a complete contrast, mix the yellow theme with purple flowers !
