Indian Bride - Indian Pride

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When I got married in the year 1978, thirty two years ago, my bride was wearing a traditional Indian dress. She was very proud to have her dress designed and styled in India, she was wearing Ghagra (skirt) choli (blouse) in white, her blouse was made of white silk with lots of embroidery. Her dupatta (head covering) was made of lots of heavy work. It was exactly what she wanted, and she wore her dress with pride. Her matching jewelry complimented her outfit very nicely.

In the year 2007, my daughter got married. She was wearing an Indian made ghagra choli and dupatta. Again she wore this with pride. My only son got married to his bride from India recently. When she came to the wedding venue she was wearing an Indian designed traditional ghagra and choli with dupatta.

I have seen many changes in life. We have seen the whole world change in the last 30 years. However, one thing has not changed and that is our Indian traditional bride. We have adopted and accepted many things in our life, but our brides will not accept or settle for any thing less than the tradition. They have maintained the heritage in line with faith, because one can not change the faith related way of performing our weddings. Our Indian bride will not change the perception of the Indian bride. This is something we Indian parents are proud of. Our children living in any part of the world, growing up in any area, educated in any world class institution, will remember when it when it comes to weddings. We are Indian and we are proud to be Indian.

A wedding day is a dream day, and it's not for the bride or groom only. It is a dream for the parents too. When parents see the dream of their daughter as a bride they see an Indian bride and on the day when they see the bride it is the same as seen in dream. With tears in the eyes, they, the proud parents of the bride, they open a safe deposit box and spend thousands in celebration. Father considers himself as very lucky and honoured to have completed the responsibility. And if you can add the support of the daughter till that day, it actually does not end there. It goes on and on and on, and the blessing of love never ends for the parents.

In the tradition of Mehdi, going back to as long as you can imagine, want, Asian Bridals have always wore Mehdi. It is most difficult and painful to sit for hours on floors, and the Mehdi smells strong, and keeping one arm in the same position for hours is also difficult. Yet they have no problem with wearing the Mehdi. In fact it can provide most enjoyable moments for them. There has been no modification of this and they have kept the tradition going, so no wonder our Indian brides are so full Indian pride. God bless you.

Jewelry For an Indian Bride

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Weddings in all parts of the world are celebrated with great joy and ceremonies. However, an important part of an Indian wedding is jewelry. The wedding is the most imperative part of any individual, and most importantly for the bride. One of the customs of Indian wedding relates to dressing up of bride with ornate and auspicious jewels. Weddings are considered holy so great significance is given to the ornaments worn by the bride. As it is considered to signify and strengthen the bond between bride and the groom.

Wedding jewelry is selected with much care as it should be according to the dress of the bridal. Although the latest trends are considered, but still more importance is given to the religious and cultural beliefs. This holds true not only for the bridal dress but also for the jewels that she wears. Gold is the preferred metal for preparing accessories of Indian bride. This is because gold is considered the most sacred for Indian weddings. Ornaments made from different metals such as silver, diamond, white gold or platinum can also b used for the bride. Precious stones such as pearl, ruby and emerald are used in jewelry as a complement for the bridal dress.

Although there are cultural differences among people in India, still jewels worn by Indian brides are similar. One of the most common accessories is the Mangtika or Shringar Patti. It is worn on the hair parting and may come down to ears through the hairline. Earrings and necklaces are common in all regions. Brides usually prefer wearing heavy weight earrings and necklaces matching with their bridal outfit. Precious and colorful stones are used in necklaces and earrings as this jewelry has to be accompanied with the bridal dress.

A nose ring is worn on the nose and may have a long chain attached to it. The other end of the chain is attached with the hair. However, nose piercing has become a trend these days and girls wear small nose rings o0n their nose. Bangles are an accessory that is common in each and every culture and every Indian woman wears it. Apart from bangles, rings, bracelets and armlets are used to beautify the arms and hands of the Indian bride. This ornament is also made up of gold along with the usage of precious stones.

Other jewels that are worn by the bride are the waist bands, toe rings and anklets. Different designs and styles are available for anklets and toe rings. Toe rings are worn by married women also and it is worn in the fingers of both the feet. The waist band is generally made from silver, but can be of gold too.

Since the culture is the most influencing for Indian brides. So, a large variety of designs may be seen. Brides from east go for beads, while brides from western parts like stones and mirror styles. Northern brides like carvings in their ornamental designs and southern brides like temple designs.

Indian Bride

You are about to get married. You should know the traditional matrimonial rites, and its meaning. Matrimonial rites are performed in the presence of 'Agni' or fire, during the 'muhurath' or auspicious time.

The garlands for the wedding are made with fresh flowers, sanctified. The bride faces east and puts garland on groom's neck first, following the example set by Sita in Ramayana. It is important that the marriage is conducted with the consent of the girl.

The bride and groom, holding hands walk around 'Agni' or fire, seven times from the left, to sanctify the holy matrimony.

The next thing would be tying the 'mangal-soothra' (or thaali maala) around the girl's neck. Gold rings are exchanged, then. The name of the spouse is engraved on the ring, or may be just initials. After the ring exchange, 'sindoor' is put on the bride's forehead by the groom. Then he places a tray full of dress for the bride in her proffered palms. It is known as 'vasthra-daanam'. She accepts the tray respectfully and takes it to her eyes, first to the right eye. It is normally a very expensive saree, with a matching well stitched blouse. Just after 'vasthra-daanam', the girl's father takes the bride's right palm and places it on the right palm of the groom, giving her away symbolically. This is an equally important matrimonial rite, 'kanya-daanam'.

The bride and groom, takes seven rounds around 'agni' and the holy matrimony is solemnized and sanctified.

All the elders of the family go to them and pour blessings on them, by placing both their palms on their head. They, now husband and wife, seek blessings by touching their feet.

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Fun and love is the essence of marriage. The marriage is the most important and the happiest moment in one's life. It is the time, when a person gets to enjoy the most precious time with the family and friends. All those moments and pranks are such which cannot be rejoiced again. The games played during the marriage ceremonies are said to be a life time opportunity for the couple. Though, one can see a number of couples playing those games, but to actually practise that joy themselves is during the only time of marriage. Marriage is the time, when one goes through many changes; many ceremonies are practised, but the things, which one remembers all his life time is the games and pranks played with the relatives and the bride or the groom.

Everywhere, marriage is related to the element of seriousness and the responsibility, one gets after getting married. Marriage is always considered to be bond, which burdens the bride and groom, with a number of responsibilities and roles to play to keep the family and their life partner happy forever. A factor of contentment is something, which needs to be maintained and hence sustained in the married life of the couple, and the contribution has to be made from both the sides. Though it's true, that the overall routine of the person changes in a great way after getting married, but the support, love, contentment and the confidence shown by the life partner are the things which are in a way are the four pillars of the married man, which helps him in leading a happy married life.

Marriage without the mixture of fun and nok-jhok, is like a flat coke, having no excitement in the drink, therefore the element of jolliness has to be in the married life. In fact, at the time of the marriage even, the bride and the groom are made to play loads of games and pranks, which makes the marriage more lively and happening. These things, helps in actually bringing the element of naughtiness and excitement in the marriage environment. The dull and the boring rituals can be made interesting and appealing with the addition of those games in the marriage.

Some of the games played after the marriage ceremony, when the bride comes to her in- laws house, with her husband are:

Find the ring:

This game is played to check, who will rule the married life among the couple, the bride or the groom. In this, they are required to take off their rings and are pour in a vessel full of milk and both the bride and the groom are asked to locate the rings in the vessel, whoever finds the ring first, is considered as the leader of the married life.

Jutta Chuppai:

Joota Chuppai is a very popular ceremony played in the Indian marriages. It is the game, in which the friends and the young children primarily the sisters of the bride, hide the footwear of the groom and in lieu of which they demand a huge amount of money as shagun. The ceremony is witnessed with a lot of tantrums and arguments, at the end of which the groom gives money to his salees.

Knotted Strings:

Sacred knots are ties in the hands of both the bride and the groom, which they have to open of each other, with the use of only one hand. The easiness, with which they open the knots, corresponds to the lifestyle and the smoothness they will have in their lives.

Thus, with the help of these entertaining rituals and ceremonies, one can make the wedding a joyous ceremony with a lot of chirpiness around.

Indian Brides or Grooms - New Trend for Searching

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Are these online matrimonial websites useful? What the answer come in your mind? Useful or not! In my eye these are useful because we don't have to go here and there. Just sign up on these matrimony websites and find your life partner. There are lots of reasons why we use these websites.

Firstly, without going any where we can access a heavy database of brides and grooms.
Secondly, we don't need to go to marriage agent. Marriage agents in small city and some metropolitan cities play a very important role in marriage. They take commission from both sides and take both the parties close. Not these two only there are lots of reasons we can avoid by using these websites like:

1. No need to go to marriage bureaus.

2. We can save money which we spend for advertising in local newspaper.

3. Save money which we spend in local society like GEETA BHAVAN in many cities. Etc.

This is not the end we can take more much benefits of online matrimony websites to find indian brides or grooms or any where in world. It has tremendously expanded the reach of every marriageable individual by exposing him/her to the millions of eligible Indians who visit these sites. Increasingly, many individuals and families spend their valuable time online searching for the perfect partner for themselves or their loved ones.

It is interesting to see that these sites are visited by conservative parents, relatives; who believe in the sanctity of arranged marriages and also by those for whom falling in love is the way to go. There are many wedding and wedding related sites on the net which understand the focus of the new age matrimonial net surfers and offer them several attractive services.

These kinds of sites have made it possible to find a partner, match the horoscopes, book a marriage hall and then do all the wedding shopping online. Then why we are taking so much tension for our children's marriage. Just go to bed and take a nap.
